Sagittarius-Carina Mission - Route and camps

I'm still following the waypoints and camps, so technically it won't be dead until after I make it to the end.

Good to hear, and a copy of the google sheet progress tracker and poi registry will remain online if you want to use it to track your progress and findings :)

I will however lock and download the current document and cross reference it with the data we have from EDSM. I will also start the work of sorting all the 300+ POI submissions we got into some form of post-mission debriefing. It probably wont be a large and fancy document, just some sort of summary that can be left here or added to the ED expeditions wiki to tell the story of the Sag-Car Mission.

So, from an organizers point of view I consider this the last month where the mission is "officially " running. Though it may not have been apparent, I have been keeping regular tabs on this thread as well as the google doc, but in the future I will not do so.

But please, do not take this the wrong way. I really hope you will enjoy your travels and the waypoints out there to the fullest :). And with the upgrades to planets that are comming with Beyond, you might even get to experience these sites with a whole new makeover :D

When I make it to Colonia and sell my data I will post the locations of all of the ELW's and Ammonia worlds that I have found so far as well. It's gonna be another month or two but I will get there.

Please send me a PM when you have added your data to the google sheet, so I remember to add it to the mission debrief as well.

I assume you got the data home safe Corbin? Right on CMDR! :D

Great scenes everyone, I'm gutted I couldn't join you, I think I logged in just as you were all finishing up.

For my part I'm a few kylies away from Jaques, I'm optimistic I can make it before the official end of the mission to deposit my data. I'll then have managed only a quarter of the distance that many many many of you managed in much less time - I am in awe and also very envious!

Cheers :)

I love the images of the stack silhouetted against the sun!

It was a really lovely event, and a fitting way to close out a very long-running and wide spanning expedition! The Sagittarius-Carina mission - the last major expedition created by the FGE - spanned the galaxy and covered hundreds of thousands of light years. It launched months before the original Distant Worlds expedition, and continued for years after that expedition had finished. It was, to use a wildly overused term accurately, epic in every regard.

I feel fortunate to have flown with the FGE, with these commanders, and on this expedition. Thank you all!

I would've attended but I am 60,790.11 LY away. Going to hit Beagle Point in a couple days, and then on to Colonia. It's been fun to follow the POI's, I've been diverging from them more and more lately though, I've been finding better systems on my own. Over 90,000 LY traveled for me in the past 4 months. I am getting to the point where I'd like to stop in a space station. Too bad they're all over 40,000 LY away!

Mission Accomplished!

OP has been updated to reflect that the Sag-Car Mission is no longer officially an ongoing community project.

Any individual explorers still out there are encouraged to carry on - and to post pictures here :D
It will be interesting to see what the Beyond planetary updates brings to some of the sites and locations we have visited in the past.

And OMG Madbilly - your latest POI datadump will keep me busy for some time ;)

Ah, yes, about that... :sheepish:

It's just everything noteworthy from my log. Actually I think that EDD or EDSM also lost some of my log so the list could have been longer!

I've got pics but haven't uploaded them yet, will try and do it this weekend. Most are only potentially minor POIs and in the galactic scale of things may not be noteworthy at all so feel free to cull them.

Thanks again for organising the expedition :)

qing long caverns... .
😕
No holes in the ground, nice sky and plateaus with some sheer drops, drove around in the SRV from the bottom to the top, went to sleep hoping it would have more sunlight this morning, but the orbital period is 5.8d. I guess bad timing on arrival. No caverns/caves. Maybe call then Qing Long chasms.
