Hardware & Technical Saitek x52 series Q&A (and general discussion thread) Got a issue? Look in here first.

Default button mappings for Saitek x52 Pro (with pics)

I had no idea what anything did, so through trial and error I sussed out what each button is physically recognized in Windows as:

YVRMeky.jpg

Plus what that means, as far as Elite is concerned, assuming you make no changes, and just load the Saitek x52 profile:

here's hoping this helps someone avoid what I just had to do ;)

Thanks for posting this.

To help quickly learn the mappings, try right-clicking the picture and setting it as wallpaper for your desktop.

does anyone know on the x52 why button (joy)30 would not work and cannot be re mapped in game and all it seems to do is flash the led on the button its self and led on pov1? its the button on the throttle with the i on it

hey, what i had to do is use the profile editor and delete all other modes except mode one, and 31 and 32 plus 16 finally worked like they should have, and when you press 32 does it flash and light up the led on POV 1? if so try using another usb port CMDR ARTOIS another user helped me fix most of the problems between elite dangerous its self and saiteks profile editor also try using this forum here http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33147&page=1 helped me immensely using that downloaded profile found there. all information i have is from the above users found at that forum so thanks again guys! and everyone else on these setup forums! makes the switch keyboard and mouse/game pad a little more bearable

Saitek & Joystick having problems

Hi Peeps,

Struggling here, bought a thrustmaster, massive dead zones, sent it back. Bought a Saitek X52 and its much the same, really poor response from both the joystick and the throttle. Can some one help please.:S

Just to clarify is it the x52 or the x52 pro you have. Lots of people have the x52 pro and I cant recall seeing anything about problems with this stick. By all accounts its probably the best stick for the game.

Have you confirmed that there are no dead zones set in either the config software or in the elite controls config?

Do you have another game to try it with to see if it is just elite misbehaving or your stick?

Make sure you have bound pitch, roll, yaw, throttle to an AXIS rather than a digital ROLL RIGHT, YAW LEFT, etc (for keyboard use).

Something like this:

Note that ROLL AXIS is bound to JOY X-AXIS for instance, rather than ROLL LEFT or ROLL RIGHT.

I had big deadzones with my saitek x-55 also than I ralized it was not installed/calibrated properly. (I installed the drivers both controller plugged in and I ignored the graphical instructions. :) )

Maybe reinstalling with proper installation steps will help. If it doesn't help try to use differend USB port maybe or if you have amd try to turn off the USB legacy support at the bios.

Good Luck!

I use a x52 and have no problems other then using custom controls and not the ED x52 profile
it sounds like you haven't run the joystick calibration set within windows

Hopefully the above answers will solve your problem.

Otherwise - a bit perplexed by the throttle having an issue, but if both sticks truly have deadzone problems, then consider trying a CH stick - they still have deadzones, but the smooth transition out of them is such that you don't even realise they are there. I'm not sure you'll find a stick with no deadzones (except possibly the x65).

Got a X52 pro, and there is no Deadzone at all on it.
There was non even before calibration, too, and I'm plugging it on my K70, and not directly on my motherboard, without any perceptible delay.

I guess the issue is either totally elsewhere, or you've got a dud.

Try installing the drivers and calibrating the stick, also try to plug it in another USB port and directly on you motherboard.

Even try to plug it in on another computer.

If the issue persist, RMA it :D

enroute but still a little lost

Hi Peeps,

Many thanks for your help, taken me this long to find my own post ! Guess you would call me an old timer, i played Elite in my teens / early twenties !

I've managed to load the X52 profile and most matters seem to be improved. It had somerthing to do with not loading it properly but purely downloading the SST software seemed to get it recognised.

Although i would dearly like to have a better control system, cant find secondary weapons (my rail gun) ** i have now, hadn't realised the rail gun needed time to load !** in the incursion scenario and trying to "look up" in same has been at the cost of removing fire groups from the upper POV hat (top LH) on the stick and i'm trying to get used to it. **still struggling with Look Up**

Its an X52 not a pro...

Anyone have a profile i can "upload" and set of instructions i can refer to ?

Confused and non techie needs Saitek 52 help

Hi and thanks for reading;

Ok I'm new to flight sim sticks and the instructions that came with my Saitek 52 (not pro) were next to none existant and I cannot seem to find any diagram mapped to tell me which button on the stick is which and therefore what relates to each part of the standard Saitek set up in ED to the point last night I got flumoxed trying to dis engage from superdrive as I'd used the keyboard bring up menu then stick to engage but then over shot the docking station each time as keyboard 'X' defaults to 0% speed didn't disengage me.

Anyone have a picture showing what buttons relate to what? or is there any easy non techie way of programming it to each function I need?

Cheers in advance
