X55 "Throttle Little Mouse Stick - thingy"

Anyone successfully mapped this to thruster controls?

I played with it for a bit but it seemed very unreliable. I mapped the key bindings to bands on the stick. In the test panel it would sometimes generate the appropriate key and others it would not.

The control bindings would not take the stick as an axis. Which is not a surprise.

might have to try vjoy is it? I have seen comments from peeps using that for mapping different devices.

If anyone has done it though please post the "how"

cheers

Various people have tried it but not with any great success. The most success found so far has been to use the Saitek software to map it to mouse X and Y axes (details here) and then set them up in Elite, but it's been flaky at best.

I was thinking of using it for that, but I tried someones X55 at Lavecon and didn't find it all that comfortable to reach for.

I'm gonna use one of the throttle hats instead I think. I'm sure there'll be lots of playing around setting things up when mine arrive end of the month.

If you have specific questions I will gladly answer them. But unfortunately I am too tired to write a detailed instruction.

I am using POV to navigate the UI panels and H2 for power management. As for vertical/lateral thrust I would use H3 or H4 on throttle if I would not have rudder pedals.

rather than bombard them with requests, has anyone been in contact with cpc lately regarding ETA of thier next batch of X55s?

iirc they were due in on the 1st Aug however am just wondering if there is an update on that. I ordered mine on the 5th of june i think it iwas.

if no one has heard from them i guess i will fire off a mail myself.

Don't know about CPC, but I know from my support ticket with MadCatz that Signet, their distribution warehouse, is due a batch on 25/07 which GameShark orders from and possibly other vendors. Can't say how big the backorders are but my replacement is coming out of that batch apparrantly and just in time for Beta.

5th of August was the date I got from them, they told me that last thursday

Ordered mine a couple days ago and received yesterday. Gave it a bit of a workout.

First impressions was that it was a little plastic. But feels really good after a few hours use.

Only complaint is that mine had clearly been re-sealed and very lightly used by someone, and the H2 sticks a bit...but I frankly can't be bothered RMA-ing, will probably DIY it.

I would like to add that I had the first major problem with joystick - main trigger (JOY 1) stopped registering continuous fire. There were pauses during shooting, this is demonstrated on the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfXsrsgrUnM

I had disassembled the stick and found out that the problem is in the contact of red plastic trigger with the button inside the joystick (when I pressed that button everything worked perfectly, when I pressed the red trigger - I had problems). So I have used a small piece of sticky tape to make joystick button closer to the red plastic trigger for about 2-3 mm and this solved the issue. Also I can note that a small spring that is used to return JOY1 into initial position is fixed by paper sticky tape and can easily get out of its position making trigger softer.
hi, how did you do that? i cannot disassembly the ring at the bottom of the stick

Hi everyone. I just reveived my x55, but it didn't come with a driver CD. It came with a piece of paper, which redirected me to the saitek site to get the latest drivers. But when i went to get the drivers, their FTP server that contains the drivers seems to be down. Does anyone here happen to have the driver and software installation files or know of an alternative server to get them? I'd be very grateful Thank you.

Driver downloads are up now.

Strange. It doesn't seem to be up for me. I go through the process of trying to download the drivers and software, and it just times out. I've tried several different browsers and they all have the same result. Are you able to download these? For me it says connection refused.

Both work fine for me, which ISP are you on? And do you know if you have a static or dynamic IP address?

The problems are at your end. No problems downloading.

I have Cox communications. IP is dynamic but it usually only changes a few times per year.

If someone could download these files and email them to me, i'd greatly appreciate it. I have no idea why the saitek server is blocking access to me. I can provide my email address via PM.
