Hardware & Technical Saitek x55 rhino

Ha, thanks for that. I too emailed them but have yet to receive a reply. I suspect it'll be identical to the one you got.

Shame. Now I need to decide whether to wait, go cheaper and get the T-Flight, or go all-out and go for the Warthog. £250 on a flight stick is a bit extreme though...

You might be interested in this then...

Awesome thanks. Preorder placed. Although I think MadCatz are the distro, so they're likely to get them first. I'll keep checking their site in the meantime. Hopefully the second batch wont have all the quality issues that some people have had.

Well placed an order for x-55 on amazon on the 26th and apparently I am getting it by June 2nd.

Currently I have:

CH Throttle + T16000M
X52 Pro
X55 coming in...

Will see which ones stay and which ones are returned :D.

Get the t-flight. £30-£40...use this during beta...then once x55 issues have been resolved buy one just before ED gets released. This is what I'm doing. t-flight is great.

£250 for the warthog is a little steep...even more so when you realize it doesn't have a stick z axis and thus you can't bind yaw to the stick. This would mean buying pedals along side the stick, so your £250 is now easily £300+

Just had an email from cpc. Delivery will be week commencing 9 June. So only a couple of weeks. I can't see me getting much of a tan this summer.

X55 now on Amazon, in stock on June 9th.

I will see if Scan puts it up over the next few days before putting in an order.

I had been keeping an eye on Amazon to sell it, and that is a _really_ good price imo (£141.32), I'm expecting that to go up after they get a few orders in.

I already have a T.Flight X which I was going use for a bit while I considered the X-55, but once I saw this price, I bit :D

x-55 set up ?

Hello, I just got my x-55 (birthday present- thank you family). It is a bit daunting so many buttons.

I am premium beta so there is no predefined set up for it. Will there be a predefined set up in the Beta when it is released tomorrow (with luck)? Or should I try to get it working in the alpha 1.1 that I have now?

Is there an easy setup posted somewhere?

Is there any posts regarding the setup of the stick?

There is already preset for X55 in A4.

I am using these controls, given that I have TrackIR and Rudder pedals:

Preset profile is actually not that bad. I am using custom profile as I got used to it since A3. Here are my controls for Alpha 4 (lateral and vertical thrust on rudder pedals, head look - TrackIR):

Joystick:
JOY1 (trigger) - primary fire/select (interface)
JOY4 (C) - secondary
JOY5 (D) - select target ahead
JOY6 (pinky) - select highest threat
POV - interface menus
JOY11 (H2 up) - divert power to engines
JOY12 (H2 right) - divert power to weapons
JOY14 (H2 left) - divert power to systems
JOY13 (H2 down)- balance power distribution

Throttle:
JOY1 (E) - FA OFF/ON
JOY2 (F) - reverse
JOY3 (G) - boost
JOY4 (H) - cycle to next UI panel (interface)
JOY5 (I)- cycle to previous UI panel (interface)
JOY6 (SW1) - super cruise
JOY7 (SW2) - hyperdrive
JOY8 (SW3) - deploy hardpoints
JOY9 (SW4) - deploy hardpoints (will change if additional controls are required)
JOY10 (SW5) - toggle silent running
JOY11 (SW6) - deploy heat sink
JOY12 (TGL1 up) - rotational correction on/off
JOY13 (TGL1 down) - rotational correction on/off
JOY14 (TGL2 up) - increase sensor range
JOY15 (TGL2 down) - decrease sensor range
JOY16 (TGL3 up) - toggle ship lights
JOY17 (TGL3 down) - toggle landing gear
JOY18 (TGL4 up) - toggle cargo scoop
JOY19 (TGL4 down) - eject all cargo

JOY21 (H3 right) - cycle next subsystem
JOY23 (H3 left) - cycle previous subsystem
JOY25 (H4 right) - cycle next fire group
JOY27 (H4 left) - cycle previous fire group
JOY28 (K1)- cycle previous ship
JOY29 (K1)- cycle next ship
JOY30 (wheel on the left of throttle forward) - cycle next hostile ship
JOY31 (wheel on the left of throttle backward) - cycle previous hostile ship

As I have rudder pedals I do not need to assign thrust up/down/left/right. However, hats on throttle might be used for these purposes.

Thanks.
I'll check out the default setup first and make adjustments to my liking.
I do not have the rudder pedals so I will use one of the hats to lateral thrust.
I just can't wait to get home plug this thing in and test it out.
Hope everything works on it. :)

Anyone had issues where the switches on the throttle may activate themselves?

Noticed in Alpha 1.1 when just plugged in that it sometimes turns on silent running our switches to reverse and also have similar things happen in Strike Suit Zero where it switches perspective by itself.

Just wondering if this is a hardware issue or possibly just drivers? Haven't seen it muck around in the DCS flight sim yet which is fully supported so wondering if it's drivers etc.

yes, i had exactly this issue!

silent running, going backwards, cargo scoop and landing gear had a living by themselfes.

i found no solution and returned the stick.

now i hope the next one will work.

No problems with throttle. Had some problems when used VoiceAttack, which centered TrackIR when it was not required.
