Because this was a community event where we all got to decide how a piece of lore was going to end. Which is amazingly cool. Unless it turns out someone else influenced the story in a way we didnt want. Then we start throwing turds. Its part of the 'not everyone is a hero' thing that is central to ED, SC and many other games. Most people love the fantasy of other people being insignificant (see the 'other people should load my transport ship' debates in SC circles for example), but cannot stand the idea that someone else got the spotlight.
