Salomé has been killed.

You might be missing the point - SDC made it their goal to kill Salomé - they didn't realize that wasn't the goal of the operation. Salomé gave her life to give the others a chance to get through...." - others may disagree but that's one way to make it a nice story.

In other words, SDC just got royally trolled.

I'm ok with that.

She's been through a lot so who knows, and it was a good while since I read the first book. She did seem to have a talent for combat in one incident in the book but didn't have hardly any kills.

It was stated before the event by the defenders that if any of the 4 got through that would be considered a victory. Salomés death will be a tragedy in Drew's book but it gives him a great ending for the book with a (probably not entirely unexpected) betrayal.

It will also provide a very poignant like with the first chapter of the first book.

Betrayal by the person you trusted always makes a good story - Judas, Obi Wan etc.
What I'm really curious about is how Drew establishes plausibility for her not decoying herself. Is she too proud, noble and self-sacrificing? Is there an in-lore reason why you can't set up your ship's transponder, then at the last minute hop out, switch ships with someone else, and have them fly as 'CMDR Salomé'? Or... alternatively, that could've been what just happened. GreyAreaUK just talked about SDC getting royally trolled... well, that would be imperially trolled.

The weakness of the defenders' strategy is, as others have pointed out, also a bit narratively weak. Sometimes reality is more unbelievable than the limit of believable fiction. From a storytelling perspective, were I Drew, right now I'd be thinking of writing that Salomé knew the defenders' strategy was appalling and walking into a trap, and she walked into it (or had someone else do so, personality-depending) because she knew it'd draw attention away from the other ships.

Jolly good show and good riddance!

Never before read any books starring Harry Potter, might give this one a try though.

Not really. They'll be in the book royally trolling everyone else for popping an NPC people idolize. I doubt stopping the information was their goal. It's not just what they did, but how they did it. I expect it to become a meme actually.

People are already trying to rationalize it as "all just part of the plan" and whatnot, which is just going to fuel the fire.

I'm not suprised either, but I honestly can't believe it happened how it did. What did they expect from a well known pirate/pvp gang? Did no-one organising the defence think this might be on the cards? I mean, really? :D

I'm not sure what's funnier though - the fact that SDC pulled this off so easily, or that the defence organisers will now likely be written into Elite lore as the ones who truly killed Salome by handing it to SDC on a plate.

Why were those who tried to defend Salome told not to bring weapons?
Didnt watch just seen this thread and a couple of others, or have i got it wrong.

This. And congrats to Harry potter and SDC, constantly providing content in a game that needs it.

And no, I'm not SDC, just a bloke trying to make money in a bad galaxy.

For sure. I don't think I ever laughed that much in this game. I thought he had just caught her and it was funny already. But to now learn he managed to get involved in her protection... It's just hysterical. :D
