Notice Scan data bug fixed

That the data is lost is obvious: just look at your galaxy map.

It is clear that at the moment it is not known if this loss is permanent or temporary. My expectation is that data before October 2nd/3rd is safe. Data between October 2nd/3rd and the 1.4 drop is probably safe. Data from after the 1.4 drop is questionable, and to be determined.

Jumping to conclusions, you don't know if the data is lost, FD do, unless you have access to their servers? no thought not, be good if people didn't immediately assume the worst and just let FD tell us what's wrong when they know themselves.

Hope my data is safe from my 6mth trip to Sag A - got back last week - I was waiting for a exploration CG goal before I sell it!

ah well - may as well play CQC until we know the facts :)

According to my projections, based on previous journey average per system, I have comfortably over 100M in data in my ship. Which is more than enough to get me to Elite. I think and expect that most of that is perfectly safe - I probably have no more than 5M at any risk. If not, this is a game changer - and not in a good way.

It's not obvious. The fact you cannot VIEW the data is immaterial to it actually being there

Keep calm, don't panic and do something else while it's being sorted :)

Not really sure what "Stop exploring" actually means.
Technically just jumping to a system you haven't been to before is adding to exploration data.
"Stop exploring" sounds like 'Stop playing the game' to me.

Safest options are CQC or logout until it's fixed I'd say.

In the worst case scenario I'm sure they can roll back, to what point is the question though.
Best case it's a false alarm and the sweat is wiped from the brows of the many.
Here's hoping for the latter. Good luck guys !

Wow - this is potentially really upsetting. I set out for the core on Monday 2nd . . . does that mean just about everything I've scanned so far (including my first Earth-like) is gone?

Thanks for letting us know - fingers crossed for a fix.

We aren't saying anything is gone. Again, the best thing to do is not to panic.

We will be keeping people informed on the main thread as we get more information.

:)

Absolutely zero conclusion jumping. Did you bother reading it, or did you just want to vent at me?

Just spotted the message in-game.
Logged out and hoping for the best - only a few thousand LY from core after a week of deep scanning.
I thought something was up after logging in this morning with no scan data from the system I was parked in over night. I know I scanned it last night but didn't think much of it.
Hoping I havent lost a whole weeks worth of deep scanning - fingers crossed :)

At least we know that it's something they're looking at specifically now - rather than just " it's been fixed"

OK, sorry that this is my first post on here, but since I got an ingame message saying to come here to find out more info. As I got the message half way through exploring a system in the middle of nowhere, I'm wondering if I can quit out (no bases around) and not worry about losing progress. I apologise if this is a newbie question.

Have you sent a system wide message to everyone out in the game (like when you do a server reboot?)

it may be an idea to ping this message out every hr or so till fixed as not many come here.

Indeed! If your Powerplay leader can spam you with messages (in your in game inbox), surely the same message system can be used about something important :)

Oh nooo... :'(
I followed Mr Brookes advise, and pursued my trip to Sag A* yesterday.
(Yes, i know i shouldn't. But i want to go to Sag A* and come back when Horizons is released... i don't have time to play 10h/day... so it's a long run)

Doing something else ?
You mean CQC ?
Oh no, please, i don't want to be a sparring partner for the pewpew guys...

I'd really like a second commander slot.

Thanks anyway for keeping us informed.

Can you offer us the chance to just restore the game and put us where we were before the missing data, if that is simpler?
I'm in the wilderness, all I would have lost was the weekend.

Yes you can log out where ever you are, just don't do it in a ring system or asteroid belt, or you might find yourself blowing up when you log back in.

Though it looks as if we may all be losing exploration progress at the moment

New to the game so just seen in game messages about not doing any exploring. Can I keep playing or what?

Right now i'm just doing bulletin board missions. Is it safe to do them?

Is this related to the cartography data you can sell in each port. Just sold a load after getting the messages. Will this cause problems for me.

Well, thanks for the heads up. I spend hours yesterday selling all my ships and outfitting an ASP for exploration. Quit yesterday docked at the edge of the bubble with a course plotted, snacks and handheld ready. ;)

Well CQC it is.

If I'm just heading to the core and not scanning on the way, can I continue. I can scan the core when the fixes come in. I don't plan on doing any actual exploring until my journey back. Just want to get to the core as I havn't been yet.
