Scanning ships - what is your secret?

You can also go in a system that has factions in combat, pick a massacre mission and drop in a CZ, pick your side then scan the enemies (target of massacre missions)
Drop in and out at will, if they have large ships you can get nice encoded. Like a bigger and more dynamic Isinor scan fest :)

So I looked back though my journals - ships average 1 piece of data between 8% and 32% of the time. Eagles, T10s, 'condas and 'vettes are the worst, the Asps, Challenger, Crusader, Krait, T6/7/9 and the mighty Orca are best. Doesn't seem to be much in it for Pilot Rank, but novices are best to scan and the best ship status seems to be 'Enemy' (not Wanted though..)

Thanks Mate, kind of aligned with what I have found since creating this thread. The worst I have found are System Security ships, got zilch from them lol

For me at least, found the easiest way was when undocking in a station and in the queue (using the ADC) is to scan then because all the umm targets are nicely lined up.
