Heretics! Last night's Doctor Who was the best one yet, for one reason and one reason only:

They do have a habit of sneaking references to the big bad evil at the end of the series into episodes beforehand.

Space Badgers - who knew?

You're suggesting that the snow episode at Christmas wasn't snow men... it was MASH POTATO men.... OMG... this could be the first year I have ever guessed the end story!!

IT IS.... Bodger and Badger are behind a plot to end the world!!! OMG

Good isnt it,I had mentioned this in an earlier judge Dredd post, its very well made considering its done by fans, would love a series, and of course it happens to be my last name...Minty! Which is what most people call me, and loved it when I read it as a kid and saw my name in 2000AD....hey we all wanted to be a judge right? :D thats why theres a play on words to do with illuminti and minty in my commanders name.

Love that Dredd fan movie :)

Check this out... new movie, Europa Report, with District 9 actor Sharlto Copley. Modern take on Clarke's 2001?! Looks awesome if you ask me.

That Judge Minty film was really well done. Thoroughly enjoyed that.

As for Dr Who, understandably it's more fun to watch as a kid but I can understand the adults who are losing the urge to watch it currently, though I do think they are just lulling us into a false sense of security while they let the new companion settle in.

That said, Defiance has been very interesting so far. They've not gone too far down the rabbit hole to baffle us with pseudo technobabble but have left it with just amount of mystery to make you actually want to find out more.

I havent seen a single character that I enjoy in that Defiance. I have watched all episodes up to now, but have just lost interest in it. The story line is going the way of the flashback which gets on my nerves no end.

Dr Who - Not sure if I like this year's companion yet, but still watching (Well its Dr Who isnt it!!)

Is there anything else out there? (Apart from Game of Thrones, I'm already hooked on that!!)

I would love to see the Culture novels on the big screen (or any other sized screen really...)

Brian :)

Well Brian, Im Glad you asked...

The answer is erm nope... lol
Dexter is about to kick of soon, if your a bit more mainstream than that the there is HBO's True Blood...
Both returning for hopefully final series.. True Blood = Vampire ****..
Dexter = Murder ****..

I tried Hemlock Grove - ICK.. SOOO SLOW and frankly trying to be a teen supernaturalesq drama..

I quite enjoy Defiance.. but it isn't anything groundbreaking..

Loads of new style reality shows.. yikky too.

SO Frankly its Defiance, Continuum (good sometimes), Fallen Skies (returning).. Im sure theres more but I just can't remember..

Sadly none I feel will inspire you...

Falling Skies is ok. I heard that there is going to be a Blakes Seven remake sometime in the future though...

10 years earlier than Dr Who

Set in the distant future of the 1960's and 1970's

Some thing I find strangely something that I return to listening to

Journey into Space (Operation Luna, Journey to the Red Planet and finally The World in Peril)

Dated for sure but real getting out there stuff.

Books Alastair Reynolds - my current Sci-Fi authour of choice, earlier than that was the David Zindell early Sci-Fi stuff not the fantasy.

Movies
Probable current-ish favourite Sci-Fi Movie MOON

All time favourite The Forbidden Planet - the hand painted frames won't be equalled in cgi!

Enjoyed Promethius for its weird feel Aliens(all of them)

Liked both Dredd movies for different reasons.

Fifth Element - "Leeloo Dallas Multipassssss"

Serenity

Silent Running

THX 1138

As for the Star Trek reboot - what was the big pipe work valve that Scotty came out of? how does that work, Scotty comes out but the water magically mainly got held back??

Pitch Black

The Smurfs - they came through a portal therefore = Sci-Fi:D

TV

BSG- new and old (Have B&S on my N7) -
B5 - nothing like it at the time - Londo classic character.
Space Above and Beyond - premiss for starship troopers iirc
Survivors (does that count?)
Red Dwarf.
Am I the only person on Earth who didn't like B7?
UFO
FireFly
Lost in Space

Probably skiploads I have forgotten
