Sorry to say this, but I never liked Quantum Leap - I prefer to call it "Quantum Sleep".![]()

The first couple of seasons of Voyager were the closest any the new treks ever produced to the original ST. The stand-alone stories are awesome.
But i can think of 7 out of 9 reasons to watch it
Another show I used to quite like from the mid-90's was Sliders, anyone remember that?
... forgot about Blakes7 loved that one to.....
Servalan was an excellent character... deliciously nasty!
I think i watch two or three seasons before i found it getting a bit all the same.
If I were to mention my favourite sci-fi series, I'd have to say Firefly and Battlestar Galactica (the new version)
It is a great series. Very character-oriented and plays science vs. religion cards rather well.Ashamed to say I've still not seen the new Battlestar Galactica yet. Definitely need to see it...
Yeah, I think that's when I stopped watching too, they did get rather samey. John Rhys Davies played the professor, who went on to play Gimli in the Lord of the Rings films.
There's one episode in particular that I'd love to see again. It was set in this parallel world where everyone was an intellectual, and games like basketball involved complex mathematics. The bit I liked best was this spoof on gangsta-rap where the rappers rapped about Keats and Wordsworth. Quite amusing if I recall.
Never seen Martian Chronicles, will have to check that one out...

I watched a few episodes only because of Rhys-Davies, but the series did not hold my attention for long. The mystery of the week formula bored me by that time and I was ready for series that had continuous plots.Yeah, I think that's when I stopped watching too, they did get rather samey. Precisely. Even though Star Trek: TNG was a great series in its time, it turned me off the "planet of the week" formula. It got annoying when forgot the ways they had solved the same problems in previous episodes. Especially one episode where a lady doctor was stranded on a planet and aged quickly and was then saved by using her DNA strand and the transporter thingy to bring her back to the ship AND restore her to her original age was pretty ludicrous. They basically had eternal life in a magic box, but no one seemed to realise it.I think continuous plots provide a lot more depth; you get to know the characters better and it allows for the stories to be more intricate.
Still, it was one of the few series that has ever brought tears to my eyes during the final episode. The only other sci-fi series that managed the same was B5.Just a little bit weak at the end, and a little rushed... Last series as much as I loved it... just a little poor..
