SDC live Event: Let's Pew!

Huh, I'm normally on the squishy and explodey end so I'm not very experienced with this, sounds like you know what your talking about though and it also sounds pretty pesky.

Like I said, you don't have to believe me, you can check their previous "event streams" and you'll find occurences of such things more than once.

The gap what they -as an organization- claim to stand for and their actual in-game actions is so huge, you could easiely fit an entire galaxy in it. :D

The role I'm best at in this sort of situation is usually bait so will just have to see what happens I suppose lol.

Well, that is the counter to the lame. Just fill every instance they can switch into with prepared commanders. Wheter they are PvP aces or just decoy drones who can laugh at a wing of 4 interdicting a T6 because it's so "menacing" and "top level PvP" doesn't matter. As long as you're having fun.
Don't expect too much PvP, though - once they're bested, them crying foul is also not unheard of. :)

Gankers v Carebears? :p

Personally I think groups like the SDC add a much needed sense of thrill and danger to the game, and the chance to experience encounters with the likes of them are what pushed me to stop playing in Solo and move to Open. That's not to say I support ganking, but I nor do I have a problem with it either. I got ganked and killed without question on Wednesday night and yet didn't shed a single salty tear. It just inspired me to get better at PvP. Not saying everyone should have the same mindset as me, of course not, but I do think people should care a bit less about being killed in videogame... especially given the demographic of the player base.

That last part is especially true. For a forum that prides itself on being "older and more mature", they certainly love to whine and carry on over the possibility of danger in a video game with "dangerous" in the title :)

* chuckles in the background * [haha]

They do go on a bit..

I object to being called mature on any scale. I have struggled hard in life to still be a 43 year old kid.

But I wonder, can you turn that view into introspection dear Rinzler? When you hold the stone of judgement in your hand, maybe you shouldn't be throwing it in the glasshouse called SDC :)

edit: 44 year old kid with memory issues.

For being a smart group of guys, you sure are ignorant from time to time.
Standing by for:
- Cutthroat Galaxy
- Hunt down commanders
- Play it how you want to
- Blaze your own trail

Did I miss any?

"Dangerous!"

(I like this. It's like a sober version of a drinking game).

Becoming Elite - Ratings
  • Getting the Elite rating (in any of the four rankings) automatically gets you into the exclusive “Elite Federation of Pilots” – and being a member of the Elite federation confers many privileges. It is also possible for pilots without the “Elite” rating to gain admission to the EFP, but access to the organisation is extremely difficult: one must show extraordinary promise as a pilot to be admitted.
    [...]
  • Once admitted the pilot will be awarded a badge including the “Elite” logo, but with their current rank below. It is expected the majority of these will be “Elite: Dangerous” and “Elite: Deadly”. Those with an “Elite” rating get the original, unadorned badge.

The issue with having an "older" user base is that they cling incessantly to a certain morality and are very vulnerable to stress and are easily intolerant of anything outside of established comfort zone.

Most weren't born in the age of diversity, can't really blame them. Some adapted phenomenally, most did not, for reasonable causes.

This alone should disqualify your post, the emoticon does not come to the rescue.

Fine. So you do have enough money, you do have the opportunity to go elsewhere after being slaughtered by outnumbered and outpowered ships. You're then a very lucky person.

SDC does not provide ANY thrill in game. Your statement is the first time I heard something like this, I have heard countless accounts of contrary descriptions regarding SDC activity. From people having paused (or quit) the game.

SDC is not a fun group for people outside the little ganking squadrons.

Problem is: There's no real player base demanding to change rules so this ganking party could stop. Even the "justified" or "honourable" PvP groups are so dry on real engagements, they lower their personal limits in regard to fair play so much they become a laughing stock when comparing their descriptions and their real actions.

Most weren't born in the age of diversity [..]

This is by far the most interesting definition of "back then they had morale and character".

Welcome to generation selfie.
