SDC Presents: Operation Healies4Feelies

I have to ask - has this actually been a problem in a real combat situation to date?

The truth came out earlier in the thread. Apparently SDC keep getting wrecked by the 13th and decided to run a campaign against teamwork (beyond calling focus) to avoid having to adapt their tactics or admit that they aren't the best.

LOL - SDC make me laugh - but I doubt their motives are altruistic.

Over powered Healing laser - they probably are (in fact, I agree they are), but you can adjust your strategy to defeat such tactics.

I doubt you can cover enough stations for me to give two hoots.

Your suggestion would add more depth to regeneration effects, but it would also increase complexity and difficulty in employing them.

I wouldn't be opposed to it, but it would do less to balance the effect vs. just reducing the magnitude of it.

Thanks for the response:)

I don't think the current "healing" rates would be bad if they are limeted/regulated in use, what I fear if the "healing" rates are lowed to . . . okey I don't know the number it needs to be to not be exploitable, but say 50% of what they are now is that they might not be worth useing especially with the lower classes ones.

I also think adding such trade off or disadvantage to this effect and maybe others is that it may add some more tactics and strategy in combat, and not only PVP but also PVE if NPCs get to use them... but adding "tactics and strategy" to NPCs is a whole different discussion...

But if my idea was to be implemented you would definitely need some feedback on what's happening to the ship you are healing so your not constantly doing more harm then good....

Are there wings flying around with healing beams circle-healing each other that y'all just can't destroy?
If the answer is no - then this video may have just created such things, and you've pretty much said "Hey everyone, here's our weakness."
Could it be that you've just been outwitted and don't want to admit it?
I don't expect an answer to this - it's hard to admit defeat some times.

As a non PVP player, I am not without sympathy to issues that affect other areas of play, including PvP. However, this sort of activity does not do much to win any sympathy to any given cause, and I have to fall back on my original question: Are there active player wings employing this tactic that you simply are unable to defeat because of it?

Personally, I'm in favor of leaving this alone, if for no other reason, it gives players a reason to use this sort of weapons modification to thwart PvP attacks - especially those they would call "unprovoked."
And I will end with one more question:

Would you rather people simply combat-logged on you, or called in an unbeatable healing circle?

Be amazed as this is a tactic that is used among some members of the PVP and PVE communities. 12 legion is known to use this tactic and my organization, the 9th legion, does have a goal of acquiring healing beams for wing play. (Although we operate in small wings and don't use them very often.)

Either way there are people who use healing beams to make themselves almost impossible to defeat and its not just SDC.

You're missing the point... It demonstrates:-
- How unbalanced the game is in areas.
- How little consideration is seemingly being placed on ensuring balance.

For example, when new magic healing beams are "thrown" into the game with such little consideration, what does this say about the processes in place to try and keep the game reasonably balanced?
