Security

Not that anyone gets overly excited to see park security I still hope that security has a much larger role than all previous games in the genre...I'm assuming it does since it was teased in the first Dev Diary!!

What role do you hope/suggest that security play in Planet Coaster?

I want they spend their time to to catch the vandals in the act and put them out.

Oh, and that they eat lots of donnuts, but when you look at them with the camera, they look at you (the player) innocently like "What ? I didnt do anything" [big grin]

I hope to see them put away vandals or just jerks in general, maybe throwing people out of the line that are skipping? Also I hope to see them helping people in need just like medical staff could? And I'm sure many many other things.

Those are some good ideas - another thought I had put in another thread was taking away selfie sticks.

Nice!!
I hope we have pickpockets, vandals, and SCALPERS!

I think a lot of the challenges of city sims can be applied to park sims, and one of it would be police and crime.
The main crime around theme parks would be pickpockets and scalpers, and also park patrol.

Pickpockets would be going around in parks, and they look like normal peeps, but they would pickpocket and get more money.
Pickpockets would not use any or much money in rides, but they would occasionally eat and drink with their ill gains.

Vandals are usually minors without supervision, and they would vandalize rides, causing more maintenance fees. They also might pickpocket other peeps occasionally, or steal from stalls, as they are little devils.

Scalpers would hang around in car parks, provided they are in the game, and they would cause peeps to use scalps, so guest peeps might not pay the fees and have less money as they already spend it on scalps.

Park patrol would arrest these types of peeps, and put them in park jail until the actual police comes to put them in actual jail. Vandals can be let go with a warning.
Park patrol office would also work as lost and found, and lost children's centre.

They could be on Segway's or walking kicking people out of the park. It would be cool to have them at the entrance checking bags. I think a staff room and maybe even have like a security manager then have then regular security guys.

Something tells me the security will not be eating donuts in PC! Woof! Oh the lamp posts I'd destroy...

I can see a comedic role from the security, and I think that is good. We won't have pick pockets or anything because it would bump up the age on the game! I can see a guest dropping litter and the guard wagging his finger and things. Also would be nice to see them work some crowd control in, with the new system in place I can see this happening,

In the old ones security was just there to minimize invisible vandalising. You never saw a person wrecking the place, and you never saw security getting them out of the park.
When I played Theme Park World years ago (20 maybe, now i feel old) I remember my friends telling me they saw security guards getting people inside sacks and throwing them out of the park, but I never saw one myself (and I played that game a lot) so i dont know if thats true.

Would love if real vandalising existed this time and if you have security the go, get the guys and throw them out the parks.

Something super exciting though is that we saw Medics in the character page. Dont even know how they will work but im super excited becuase they are probably bringing new gameplay elements to the table.

Im also going to add that the mechanics clothes are super realistic (in a cartoony way) and look fantastic.

You mean this haha?! (Took that photo just for you lot, awwh)

I've not seen that either on the game but now I really want to play it, I'll have to sort out playing it soon!

Did security even play a role in RCT3? I'm genuinely asking. The only thing I remember is, for example, when you first launched the Vanilla Hills scenario and the benches were already vandalized, and you had to demolish them and rebuild them. I don't recall ever seeing vandalism in action, but then again I always hired two or three security guards "just because", so perhaps they were indeed preventing it...

Either way, I hope they play a much bigger role! Perhaps security guards could prevent line jumping as well (which would increase guest happiness). I'm not sure if they are sticking strictly with stalls again or if they are expanding into restaurants and gift shops, but if it's the latter maybe they could also act as loss-prevention officers. Without them you'd lose money due to thievery. Maybe I'm deviating a bit too much, haha!

I remeber renting the game at a Centro Mail (now called GAME) eons ago, and liking it so much I bought the same copy I rented (you cans till see the rent stickers) as it cost it less that way.
My PC (a Pentium 166) couldnt handle change the name for the rides for example (you could name it in the menu, but it wouldnt change in the 3D ride). Good times lol

Nop, in RCT they didnt do anything visible. They just prevented from future vandalising if an angry peep was in the zone and the security was also there. You could also prevent this without hiring security guards and just keeping the park clean.
I really hope they really do something visible this time.

Funny coincidence that I just talked about GTA in another thread

I have never understood what their role is even supposed to be.. I just think they add comedic value if they walk around funny and eat donuts XD
