Patch Notes September Update - Patch 1

I do not agree with the ranks about, the first cmdr who made triple elite took 1000 hours, I have 2000 and I am far from that, it is not easier to rise now, except trade i think

As I said, my perception of 'easy' may be clouded by my experience in the Elitian Universe, certainly programming is easier with 30+ years of experience :D

but in my case, I am still only Ranger because I can earn Exploration rank simply by navigating the bubble and selling carto-data for systems already explored and mapped. I even earned some exploration rank and credits from mapping a system I have already previously visited. It was one of the engineer's systems where I have a pinned blueprint so I know had already been there. If exploration could only be achieved by exploring new, virgin systems then I feel it would have more meaning, I feel ranking would bring a sense of achievement but in doing this, new players would have to explore far outside the bubble to get any exploration rank, so it's not fair on them.

it's a trade off between game play and simulation. In a RL universe, people would not get paid for mapping a known system yet they seem to here for game play purposes.
To paraphrase Lincoln [was it him?] You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you cannot please all of the commanders all of the time :D

I can reset my save and become elite in exploration with 24 hours. Elite in trade in another 24 hours. So with some commitment and lots of energy drinks you can be double elite with 1.5+ billion in the bank in a weekend. You need to know what to do et cetera, but it definitely became way easier. Or rather faster.

22hrs played, In a Cutter, Trade Elite, 1bn float credits :)

We get this every time there's a significant update, even when we've had a month of beta testing. Soon the problems will be either sorted out or left to be an annoying feature of the game, like the many we had before the update. Moaning makes you feel good, but it's not going to change anything. I fully sympathise with those that can't play or do their favourite activities. It's happened to me after previous patches, so I know how you feel. All problems go away with time. You just have to wait.

I'm not impressed by this patch at all, engineering fixed yeah that's good but the screen tearing and borked mission board are still there on Xbox, ED is unplayable right now.

And a thank you? I don't think so, they screwed this one up badly.

They have been polite...unlike some people posting here who are being rude for the sake of being rude thinking it makes them look cool.
Nah. These guys need reminding that they work in a service industry.

Stuff like this update destroys reputation. And if a game company loses reputation, well... Well you do want to be playing in ten years time right?

Well ,I believe you, in YouTube you see things very psycho, now that I know how to do things better it would take me less time for sure, but you don't have to get obsessed, but I had read that before the combat was easier to climb, right? my comp.rank doesn´t move :ROFLMAO:

Guys, please ... be serious: there is NO reason to "thank" FDev for solving a (big) problem that they themselves have caused.

The "thank you" is comic. A series of insults would probably be more appropriate.

Yeah, let's disrespect the devs as soon as they do something that bothers us for a few days after years of playing. It's totally the right thing to do for sure.

Are you for real ?

I'll stop throwing shade when FD uses the words "we're sorry, this is our fault."

These issues need correcting or at least addressing before anyone gives a damn about carriers or next years secret update
I agree. I read somewhere that there are 2,777 reported bugs within Elite. I would far sooner these were addressed before any more updates like fleet carriers, I would far sooner more engaging gameplay be added, more puzzles to solve. I did the Guardian thing recently [yeah i know, bit late on that one :) ] and used the internet to find a map to help me but I now so wished I hadn't and had puzzled it out for myself. Would have taking longer but would have enjoyed it more.

I am dreading fleet carriers and the 2020 update because I am expecting a very broken release such as the last few have been. The first broken was forgivable, possibly even the second but FDev do not seem to learn from their mistakes.

Hey, @Will Flanagan - An idea: Look at your online player stats, select a few dozen die-hard, long time players, choose those who play every night and weekends [yes, OK, those who are obsessed and, perhaps, either don't have a life or a very forgiving family] contact them and ask them to be your beta testers. Those that play because they love the universe not because their job is in QA/QC. With your access to player stats you should be able to get a wide range of players, hardware, global locations to test what you need testing.

Thanks Frontier :)

Oh, and good lord there are some salty kids in here, please ignore as I'm sure most of them have never sniffed a complicated development job..
No, never claimed I have. But ultimately, FD are selling this game on the open market.

I do not need qualifications to expect to be able to use a product I paid for.

but in your game, once you've discovered them, you can't rediscover them, right? Or have I missed something?

During my first play-through, I only scanned undiscovered worlds (this was before the FSS). It didn't feel like exploring otherwise. I made Elite doing this, and it felt like I earned that title. I did so much exploring this way that I eventually grew tired of it.

So this play-through I'm exploring the Bubble itself, looking for things like Generation Ships, those beacons with strange messages, cool vistas, etc. I don't care about rank anymore (it's meaningless these days anyway), but from a role-playing perspective, I consider my "exploring" of populated systems to be reconnaissance for my faction as I play the BGS. They are paying me to watch and spy on other systems, similar to political and corporate espionage that happens IRL.

Maybe in some odd society a series of insults is everyday acceptable when someone makes a mistake.
In normal society offering thanks when said mistakes are rectified is a given...

I agree entirely, but I do not know how much is "We are experienced players" and how much is "It's easier now"

There are plenty of 'beat Skyrim in 30 minutes' vids too, doesnt mean the average player has that experience. In various elite communities I see plenty of 'finally got a Python, so stoked!' posts. We tend to forget our experience is much different from new players', and this community is heavily biased towards experienced players.

I'd not forgotten, and it may be that I had just forgotten how little I knew in the early days of my forays into the Elitian Universe; I am pleased that people are still being excited at achieving their first Python. I even run three high ranking SLF pilots just to reduce the credits I earn, spreading the wealth :)
