Griefing is a valid part of alpha. If we do not want it in the final release we must give FD enough examples to be able to balance the system.
That said, I'm unsure how much exposure to the devs today's example will provide. Perhaps y'all would be better served to exemplify your station defense/blockade/griefing concerns when FD is actually present?

On the flipside, at least they gave (what little head's up) they could on the forums?

As to the TS server I have gone there several times but I find the constant chatter distracting to testing and playing. That is my OWN opinion. Others may certainly prefer a constant background. My wife likes to fall asleep to the TV for example.

I'm on server 79 liberating canisters for anyone who is desiring them and able to scoop them all by themselves.

I think it was more to do with getting players on their TS server, which I've been on and will never again return to it.

Please do not forget to post the teamspeak server you normally use and its funny no one ever remembers you using my server and I do save all the files so if you like I can make a very very large list of players that have logged in and out . You may also like to post we politely used kroys teamspeak server and I promote using a teamspeak server with your friends not just mine .
I try and remain neutral and am famous for trying to help people no matter how they play you have to remember we are testing .

PS If you do use the dedicated teamspeak I run that only supports Elite Dangerous you are always welcome .

Yeah. Hopefully all those involved will add that TS link to their signatures. I like to pigeon hole people, guilt by association as it were. Another one for the pile! ;)

Mobius is a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, and nobody remembers him ever being on Gen Han Solo's TS server...

If he ever visited, he wasn't memorable, so other than posting negative comments about other testers who speak to others on a regular basis and share knowledge of alpha status, tips and hints.. he would rather sit hiding anonymously behind his forum post being a derogatory and negative minded person..

He has every right to his opinion.. but it certainly wasn't developed after any "real" experience in dealing with veterans in the PC industry like the people I value and speak with on Gen Han Solo's TS server on a weekly basis..

Am I remembered on there? Of course I am.. so can I speak authoritatively on this? Of course I can -

Mainly because as a regular visitor, I am helpful and social to everyone who comes to visit, and if Mobius was a real man, he would at least try to speak with Han Solo or one of us about his issues rather than spreading his viral spew in form of doubts about other people, where he himself claims little to no experience dealing with..

Quote from complete loser - Mobius.. ...their TS server, which I've been on and will never again return to it..

So, there you have it folks.. his authority comes from his one time visit..

I honestly wouldn't worry about this kind of thread. (admittedly I haven't been griefed yet)

In the real game they'll find themselves targets

and it's a big universe..

Thank you for the offer, I have my own server but when I do use TS for Elite ill be using the one that is reserved for the kickstarter players that don't have a certain player on it that insists on telling others how they should use TS because he finds idle chat annoying. Don't ask for the name of the server as its not for me to hand out.

Luckily Han Solo destroyed my ship.

I was likely infected when opening a cannister I had picked up, this moldy spongy stuff had begin to grow in all the corners in my ship (I like to keep it on the humid side).

I had jumped back to Zelada in an attempt to clean my ship up and upon jumping in I saw a bounty on some fella and almost killed him (maybe I did kill him not sure) when Han Solo blew me up and then the game crashed.

Good times. :)

You should be safe now the plague virus was destroyed in the ship explosion .
And we new the clean environment of your escape pod would mean you and any crew members would survive because the heat of separation would kill the infection . But we could not destroy the Star Port with out giving them a chance of survival .

Which sometimes is all you need to know.

Now if we're strutting peacock feathers .. I notice that Mobius and Kerrash were hand picked by FD to attend a prestigious award ceremony recently as ambassadors to Elite .. a very public affair in real life with the cherry on top of meeting DB in person ..

Sorry .. who are you again ?

seconded

And this why I will be playing single player.

it`d be nice to wave to the odd real commander from time to time, my son is convinced no one would use mike , it'd be hard to stay in character when some commanders chatting bout earth sport or politics etc. when i play elite it is for total escapism as it was back in the day.. griefing and bullying and dictating are for the real world not elite

I respectfully disagree :)
Griefing is griefing. The "ITS IN ALPHA!" is on the list of the most common excuses for griefing.

Griefing is griefing I agree - However it's a valid "excuse" as the Devs themselves have said during Alpha anything goes. Whilst the game is being developed find the weaknesses and annoyances - document them via the ticketing system - and in due course FD will compensate or fix them. The more you abuse ED now the less likely you're going to be able to come release (but I do admit that sometimes people find it hard to separate the logic of this from the emotional content attached to it)

can we all please settle down. we injected some much needed zap into the alpha phase, anything goes, call it what you like, it was a one-off.

its an alpha, do what you like, none of it is real its just a test.

everyone should calm, we aren't going to do that in the final game or anything near to the final game, the station and its defence force should (and will in time) destroy us with ease.

Sad to say it but it does do something important. With a pure sandbox game anything goes and this behaviour is something that should be analysed, not just vilified. If it is generally seen as unacceptable by the community at large, and FD agree with this, then steps should be taken to make mitigate this behaviour in game. Come Beta and Gamma it would simply take a few flights of vipers coming to the rescue of those being spawn camped. These players would be wiped out in minutes in this case, and if they are in the group it could even be considered that even if only one of the group attacks they are all guilty by association.

This wouldn't stop this activity from happening but it sure would discourage it.
