Patch Notes Update Server Side Update 10/10/14

Thread Closed: Not open for further replies.
The team has spent the last week searching through the logs with a fine-toothed comb to iron out any issues or problems with the build.

This latest server side specific update is a result of the ongoing testing from the community. The Elite: Dangerous team have dealt with technical problems that they wouldn't have otherwise found if it wasn't for the tickets you've been logging.

These updates are already live and don't require a galaxy server restart.

See the change log below:

- Commanders should no longer be fined 1 credit when the System Authorities find stolen cargo with a scan
- Commanders should once again be able to purchase ships that cost less than their current ship's trade-in value when they don't have sufficient credits to buy it without the part exchange
- Improvements to server balancing to make it more likely to encounter other Commanders in a given star system
- Fixed crash to desktop when hyperspacing to certain unpopulated star systems, and fixed exploration scanning whilst there
- Enabled per-commodity restock rates in Commodity Markets
- Commanders with large quantities of cargo in their holds should no longer receive such favourable prices
- Commanders who fly very quickly between Space Stations should no longer receive data for the wrong Commodity Market

If you have any questions, please put them in the forum thread below. Keep posting tickets and let us know any other problems you have. The team keep a close eye on the forums, and with your help any future issues can be fixed.

Awesome! Great to see so many things people have complained about being able to be fixed without touching the client.

@elewis what's the time window for server updates, so people don't waste their time getting kicked off?

Bravo!

From the sound of the restock rate change, I'm guessing that trading will be back in the mix as a viable playstyle going forward.

Thanks for all the painstaking time you people put in to making this an amazing game.

Shok.

if I arrive at a station with 25t of 4 different trade items. do I get the 25t prices for them. Or do I get the even lower 100t prices?

Damn, no mention of crashing out of the game when trying to access the bulletin board.

Am I seem fated to never get a mission again in beta 2 :S

Good job on all the fixes!

... - Commanders with large quantities of cargo in their holds should no longer receive such favourable prices ...
Does this mean market prices are private, not public?
What I mean by this question is, will a station adjust prices for everyone based on the actions of a single individual, as soon as they attempt to sell?

A few other related questions..

If the market prices are not adjusted publicly, then how is this not a punitive mechanic for one playstyle (traders)?
If the market prices are adjusted publicly, does this mean solo players affect multiplayer players? Is this intended?
Are there any differences to this mechanic for solo play vs. non-solo play?
What are the intended rates of adjustment, and what exactly is the threshold for "large quantities" ?
Does this adjustment apply to fulfilling "sell xxxxx at this station now!" missions, or all trading in general?

ive not had it crash with the BB, but when it seems to be taking ages to load, ive found pressing ESC seems to give it a kick......might just be coincidence, might not.
