Servers?

I cant enter supercruise from Solo, Open, nothing. Keep getting "cant connect to matchmaking server"

Fixed by jumping to another system. Weird

I had an oddity about an hour ago where I couldn't come out of SC at Palin's base in Open...just got a black screen. Killed the EXE, tried to log i in Open again...black screen. Logged in in Solo and it was fine.

Had a few problems in Mobius this evening at the CG sites, with transitions hanging for minutes before throwing a server timeout or even just a black screen lockup. I never really understood all the complaints about the "regular Sunday night server issues" but I got a taste of it tonight.

Particularly annoying when coming back from a RES to the station; it's over 1000 ls from the gas giants to the station, and if the journey is interrupted by an interdiction that leads to a timeout you're right back at the RES when you log back in. When that happens three times in one flight it starts to feel personal.

Do these problems manifest on the consoles as well or is it largely a PC thing? A colleague has just bought the PS4 version of ED and I'd hate to think his first week's experience was dogged by annoying server errors.

Now, at 1619 CDT, the servers are locking up again. Just tried to exit supercruise at Campbell station. Two minutes of wait. Tried escaping. Black screen. Elite now using 2 GB of mem.

Happening to me at 1619 CDT.

I'm beginning to think that the matchmaking server is from 1997. If simply entering a semi-crowded instance gives it such a headache, maybe it's time for FDev to upgrade.

There's something wrong with the internet main infrastructure at the moment. Something is definitely up.

I'm out exploring ATM and have noticed that when I scan the systems, it takes a while after the honk before the stars and planets show up on the radar. Jumps seem to be ok for now.

You mean the WHOLE internet? That can happen!? :O

You feed a core router a bad table, when it propagates all sorts of nasty can and will happen.

But that is the entire point of routers - they will find bad routes and route around them - the only thing blocking that is bad tables or crappy carriers insisting on awful peerages.

You see, this is why I'm a space-nerd, rather than a computer-nerd. There are some things I'm better off not knowing. For instance, now I know the internet can break.

It's always breaking. It's how it works :D

And lets not even mention DNS ghosting ;)
