Settlement Restart Missions

Settlement Restart Missions require you to find Power Regulators for the reactors. Well I did four (4) restart missions and you folks are really good at hiding the Power Regulators, because I couldn't find any of them. So, I ended up using some I already had in stock. If this is working as designed then please let me know, so as to not waste more of my supplies.

Unless the mission description says one will be supplied by the mission giver, you're expected to supply your own. There is no mechanic that guarantees one will be placed somewhere in the settlement for you to find.

That's what I get for not reading the small print . Okay, so it was in the mission title (Big Print). O7 Cmdr.

It's fine. Find another place that needs a settlement restart but supplies a PR. Take that cancel the mission and do the other one. :ROFLMAO:

Also, routinely take the power regulator after every covert mission in a settlement. I've got 50 of them in recent days. Also found some in the parked SRVs.

I've been stocking up a few power regs by taking massacre missions and stripping them from the settlement after I've eliminated every living thing.
It's all for the cause right?

Or you can take salvage missions and wait until you come across a ship in distress type. Best ones are those with 2 PRs like the Cobra. Park your SRV near, check your contacts panel for live ones and do the relog dance. You will soon amass a large stock. A lot quicker than the other methods.

Power reg are easy to get, go to station take a power up missions.
This supplies the power reg normally, then abandon the mission, you left with power regulator.
Then repeat on a few times you end up with a few of them.

Just look around for a system (not anarchy, of course) that has a few larger settlements present.
Drop in and murder everyone, steal everything in sight, including the power regulator. Repeat over as many as you wish.

Yes, you will get bounties and notoriety, but they don't affect normal play - and you can feel good that you didn't take the coward's way out of massacring poor, innocent, anarchy settlements.

Here's a new one for you all. In HIP 20492 you can pick-up auto fail "Settlement Restart Missions". The reason being all of the settlements are back on line (Normal Operations). So you get to keep the Power Regulator, but you'll need to paid for it, by way of fines. o_O

Here is another one. I did many of the new restore power missions that require you to find power regulator. Most are given from your ship and not from terminal inside the station. Filter the missions by materials and at least one mission reward will be 3 power regulators. Yes, not one but three. So, you just need one regulator to start and then I already got like 12 regulators only from doing the new restore missions.

there are two type of missions :
Reactivation : Turn On .....
Reactivation : Find a power regulator...

the first supplies the regulator the second does not
I found yesterday the Reactivation missions supplied IN the system, seem to have both, but outside the system, they appeared to be the FIND type.
also its reasonably common for these missions to offer power regulators ( 4 or 5 units), so do a "Turn On" with the reward then you can do the "Find"

A question for those trying these...

What percentage of time have you got to the site, and found Pirates defending them?

I did 4 yesterday, and one was swamped with pirates when I arrived .. had to abandon, as I was not really setup for a fight !

also, have you had pirates turn up after/during reactivation?

I usually reactivate to get power, then go around seeing what I can find in cabinets... (presumably Thargoids will be blamed for the thefts in these system :) )
and Ive been disarming alarms/defenses, but think perhaps I should leave them up - just in case.
(I tend to take the SRV in, and dismiss ship... so don't really need to turn off alarms I guess... no guards there anyway)

I had more with scavengers than empty ones actually. And with the latest issues most of them are already online 🤷‍♂️ .
But I never saw scavengers appear after settlement reactivation - I only had AX hunter ships show up to "patrol" once the settlement was online (yeah, very brave).

I am a bit disappointed though with these missions - I expected these settlements to be damaged in some unique way or something similar. Not just plain old empty buildings.
Oh well.

Take a settlement massacre mission for a faction you don't like. Once everyone's dead, swing by the power room and hey, free regulator.
Or an assassination mission (preferably at an anarchy site) and give 110%!!! by taking out EVERYONE at the site AND stealing their power regulator! Be that commander that goes above and beyond what is required! :sneaky:

Seriously... this is why I have a nice stockpile of power regulators. :)

Just took a "find a regulator" mission but when I got to the site it was already powered up and populated (by the faction, not scavengers). I assume it was meant to be derelict. Multiple relogs into Open and Solo ... did nothing. Is this common? First one of this type I've tried (plenty used to normal reboot missions though).

I came upon this issue myself and it seems the game will still issue "Restart Missions" when the installations are already on-line. So, now I check the settlement status with the system map before I take any missions or every four hours. (had system go active while enroute to do mission)

Oh wait ... so are there some "Turn on" missions in Thargoid post recovery state systems that we can actually do? (I'd assumed that the entire mission type was just fundamentally bugged after trying 6 different ones this morning that all took me to settlements that were already powered up).

I think they work if you get in early on systems that have just been flipped to recovery state, the issue seems to be a lot of people are doing them so the settlements end up switching to being permanently powered quicker than the mission boards can keep up.
