Shadows glitches after the Update: What to do?

This is what ground shadows looks like after the update. I didn't play for some months but for sure i've never had these problems before.

Everything is set to high/ultra, i've deleted and regenerated the shaders chace, and doublechecked everything.
What should i do? Is this a my problem, or a game bug?
 
IMO, the shadows is the most broken part of the renderer, dwarfing even the aliasing or stellar lighting problem.

Notice how most of the flickering on the hangar stairs went away with the mostly missing shadows in this update.
 
The shadows ruin 90% of the most otherwise fantastic shots in the game. Either flickering, or popping in and out or suddenly appearing as you approach the landscape just sucking the enjoyment out of the view. Then there are the epileptic shadows in some cockpits (Viper) that make you want to scream. Hard to concentrate on anything when my window strut shadow thinks it's dancing at a rave.

Ive been getting horrible flickering on asteroids in rings. Also the shadow under my ship not rendering if youre more than a couple meters away from it, even on max settings

They did address that issue in the very next update (U14).

Unfortunately, they broke them again in U18, and have been trying to fix them since. Frontier's version control system for the game has been a mess most of the game's life.

I’m afraid VR shadows have been flickering away for the last 19 months or so - I check all extant VR issues after each game update (and during my infrequent play sessions) and VR shadow behaviour has remained the same.

There was a brief moment after 18.01 dropped where mid-range shadows were entirely absent but they soon returned to their normal strobing ways after I altered some graphic settings.
