Yeah. Some kind of mind control, apparently, and they would be the obvious suspects. Although it could be something completely different, too. "Kill them for me" sounds like some kind of revenge.
I’m more thinking… well, it does involve the Thetis in some way - I believe the signal is a derivative of its killer signal that drove people insane. But it seems to be more specific - ‘Kill them for me’ rather than just a “generic” ‘Kill them all’. The outcome is the same, but it’s a request from… someone.
Who that someone is? My guess lies on the
masked/helmeted skull person. I saw a guess issued that, perhaps, they are a Thargoid-controlled/influenced hybrid using that signal from the Thetis for… something. Like, say, the rescued people from the Titans on the rescue megaships. I think message 10 holds a strong clue to that.
they won’t let me leave the ship/i’m trapped in here/can’t leave/can’t go elsewhere/have to do what i’m told/have to find them
(Minus its, seeming, morse code, which I’m not sure yet holds any actually relevant information - I sure couldn’t figure it out.)
I mean, why refer to something as
they, doing what you’re told and that you have to find them?
Sure, it could just be the kill signal, but this… sounds like something else to me. Some of the people on the station were either not affected, or affected less slowly, seeing how
skull guy killed those that became violent, but not others. A bigger purpose that just getting people killed.
Or this is all just a giant, twisted experiment. But seeing the GalNet we’ve had on Monday… I’m led to make some, potentially wrong, connections in my funny brain. The counterpoint I’m seeing myself, right now, is that this outpost is kind of just… oddly placed for such a thing. Which could just be the point. But I guess we’ll find out why sooner rather than later…
(Also worth noting - the Grey Swans… whatever, are not actually a faction in Sha… uh, what the system name was again. Thanks for pointing that one out, system chat.)
