The simplest solution is enable the existing functionality on this very forum that permits the 'Title' below your Forums name to be customised, then allow players to choose whether they wish to display their Commander name, and sync it from the game so we don't get impersonators.

Suppose i take a disliking to you for whatever reason. I could easily come on these forums and accuse you of griefing or cheating. I could even get my friends to lie on my behalf. You might not even see the thread and so have no opportunity to defend yourself.

Next thing you know you are being attacked or griefed by players who read my posts and now hunting you down, while other players are adding you their block list. That's not really fair is it?

Just because something bad can theoretically happen don't mean that 1) It will. 2) We should wipe it from existance.

From experience, all the trashtalking in pvp come from the highly active pvpr who already know each others and guild vs guild. Never seen anyone form a serious forum/ingame attack on a nobody before because that would just make him look dumb. My last mmo, "AOC" ffa pvp with zero rule in the chat, Remember how the chat in Diablo1/2 used to be? Completely unmoderated, it was filthy to the extreme with all kind of troll/drama but you didnt have to follow the drama or take part in it and if you were a nobody you can bet your ass you wouldnt be part of it.

I just saw this - CMDR "fleece" and thought brilliant. Credit to Robski in the So this is how new players are greeted? thread
-- CMDR Fleece Jameson - a highly unoriginal individual who simply follows the pack (often to anti-social ends)

I think Nomadski may have earned a place here. It's not exactly a pseudonym, but since he posted about his experience perhaps he'd be inclined to accept the infamy?
-- CMDR Nomadski Jameson - a somewhat calamitous individual but friendly and lucky to boot

Cmdr. Angus Jameson - Can do without Auto Field-Maintenance Units, only needs paperclips and swiss army knifes (and the occasional chewing gum)

Just saw this thread for the first time ... I'll suggest Cmdr Alien for when you encounter a new hostile lifeform that must be exterminated ... wait, I see a flaw in this suggestion :D
