Shield Regeneration Lasers

All beam laser sizes can support this mod. Whether you can easily or even deliberately acquire said mod is another matter ;)

Erm, I very much hope the acquisition of modifications is always deliberate. Are you implying this is a upgrade gamble, hand in materials and get 1 out of 10 possible modifications, randomly selected?

Dear god tell me this system won't have layers upon layers of RNG to artificially inflate how long it takes you to get what you want.

The STO item upgrade system comes to mind....*pukes*

Normal modifications are deliberate albeit with some procedural sprinkles on top. Regenerating Sequence is not a normal modification and is not so deliberate. It's one of the reasons why it isn't going to be as big an issue as some people are making out even if it did work exactly how they don't want it too.

This weapon is illogical. The transference of any kind of energy onto the shield of another ship weakens that shield, yet somehow this new weapon not only can repair a shield by transferring energy to it, it can also discern between a shield mounted on a friendly ship and a shield mounted on an enemy ship?

Anyone got any pointers to where the workings of this technology are explained?

Well it is an issue the other way round: if you want to build your ship for wing support with lots of them... tough luck or what? Well anyway, it partly mitigates my issue with this being an unfair ability for wings to cut down the downtime between fights. If these things are really rare, they might not matter that much in the whole picture. Anyway, I am off to see Zootopia, thanks for your effort replying here. :D

thats a bit of a strange way to equate it I mean that would mean half of their ship is destroyed at 50% :p

Well, I didn't come up with the "the two ships are just really one then!" analogy. I think it's an entirely wrong way to look at the situation. It's pretty silly to claim that, as a single pilot, you're better off facing two ships that can attack you or heal each other than you are facing two ships that can only attack.

I get that people are trying to defend that healing allies won't make wings even more OP, but that's a pretty nonsense argument I think. Of course it will make them more powerful. The weapon wasn't added to make them weaker. No blame, I make plenty of nonsense arguments myself in the heat of the moment. :)

All of this stuff will be done by engineers. Engineers will only tweak your ships, if you fulfill missions for them (or a faction they are allied to), have a certain rank or reputation and gather required materials and/or loot (whatever this will be).

In short: they will grant you an advantage when palying the game. Think about it... actually playing the game! Indeed, a mind-twisting concept!

I guess you could have that each shield has a narrow resonnance band where it absorbs energy instead of getting damaged.
When flying in a wing, the shields and recharge laser are attuned between wingmens automatically using a secure com channel.

Lore => Done.

Ok, fair enough. I'm going to trust your judgement here. I'm happy that you realize it could be very powerful, and I freely admit (and have all along), that I have no idea as to the specific implementation. If you're also taking extra steps to make sure it's not a deliberate thing so it won't be a big issue, and you think it's not going to work like I'm worried about, I'm mostly pacified, I guess.

(green healing lasers still make my soul weep, though ;))

Thank you for your time, sir! :)
