Ship kits nerf

Refunds should be available for those who want them in this case; that's only good customer service.

I do think our esteemed devs should have just left well enough alone. Clipping? For maybe a second or two? Has anyone seen what No Man's Sky is like in that regard? Slippery slope perhaps, but let this one slide and look closer before releasing these things in the future.

Well I'm gonna wait untill the next patch and see if I get my shipkit back the way it was (highly unlikely) if not then I'll request a refund.
We should at least gotten the option to keep the kit the way it was because that's what we payed for.
Just like the Crome paintjobs and the new Chromed they release now.

Doesn't matter if you find the part ugly or not, what does matter is the fact that FD clips the shipkit to an ugly mess without even mentioning it.
The picture shows only the nose part but wings and spoilers have been clipped too, they look out of place now imo.
We've paid money for a beautiful shipkit, not this mess.

Who cares if the wings were a bit to wide for the platform, the ship looked awesome, now it looks like a plucked duck.

I like the new look.

Less is more.

I've seen a few comments along the lines of 'come on FDev it looks amateurish' and I mean a few. I assume it was interfering with their 'mursions or something.

As I said I didn't buy the kit so I don't have a personal axe to grind here but if they'd done it to the Python kit which I do own, I can't say I'd be thinking 'oh well never mind, what's my eight quid compared to some random on the internet's ability to pretend more effectively.'

But have they fixed the floating rocks in the hanger bays on some worlds? That really breaks my 'mursion!

I can see why they wanted to fix it but those fangs look like they just took a chain saw to them. They did not even adjust the proportions at all.
I would say that it would be fair for anyone who just hates the new look to at least get a store credit if not a full refund.
(refunds are not really possible on XBOX so a store credit would be the only way)

You are playing with it "for a while" and then returning it? There'll be a charge for that .....

and a restocking fee ....

and a ship transaction fee .....

It will cost you a lot less to keep it [money]

Ship transaction fee? I won't be returning the whole ship, just the kit parts, the boxes are a bit torn though, I'll use some extra tape......

Its not just sad from the perspective of someone who has paid for it.
It is also sad for a 3D Hobby artist like me to see how they have changed it. They just scaled this part in on one axis (the wind part on the side). You can see it on the circle in the texture at the edge. It isn't a circle much longer. Just an egg. Who ever has made this mesh part in the first place has probably very carefully balanced the dimensions of all parts to make it look "right". And they just pushed that outer part in (like someone has bumped his Cutter sideways into a rock) for the sake of what? Clipping? Hell, the heck fins are still clipping into a runway in the lower back half of some hangars. So why!?

Most parts of the Cutter ship kit looked 3D amateurish already. Like someone who has just learned 3D, is building his first spaceship... with fins... what else... I mean, even I have started that way. :D
But come on FD, you can do better then just fins! ;)

They should never have made those mail slots that tiny. They really did cut themselves there.

Anyway. I probably wouldn't have noticed the whole thing if I hadn't seen this on the forum. But now I can't make it unseen. Thanks ernstgunst! :D ;)

They aren't tiny. They are bloody huge! Its just that some of the ships are big.

If we had bigger slots, then people would be calling for bigger ships. Then if they got those bigger ships they would be complaining that the slot is too small.

As for OPs issue, took me reading 3 pages before someone actually said what the actual issue is.

Yeah, i can see OPs point a bit here. You do buy cosmetics based on what you see, and if the dev change something you see to something you don't like, its not very good.

Maybe FD could remove it from you and offer you store credit in return so you can buy something else.

Perhaps FD should offer expanding mail slots ! Air Traffic changes the slot size to accomodate appropriately sized ships. That would fix a lot of problems for up and coming ships too (Panther Clipper ?).

Middle aged men cry real tears over minor changes to the appearance of an imaginary spaceship that only they can see and even then only rarely.

Don't forget supercilious bellends desperately feeding their misplaced superiority complexes. :)

You bet, and love these responses the most 😆

Ps. Who’s middle aged?!!!! Commander EGU1976 is only 41, thus young Karl.
