Ship Launched Fighter Bug

I've had this problem for well over a year now where my fighter ignores the "attack target" command when I'm targetting a thargon swarm. He will stay in the "Defend" command but still won't react to the thargon swarm damaging him, he just refuses to get into any combat with the swarm at all. If the thargoid interceptor itself shoots him, he will attack the interceptor just fine. He doesn't ignore me when i make him attack the interceptor, Scout, or any other target. Does anyone else have this or any other similar slf bug? Never heard of anyone else with this issue? Bug report thread went ignored and closed, and support tickets just redirect me to forums
