Ships you would like to see

ZPG
- Puma Clipper (ZPG styled Type-7 with a dorsal and a ventral large weapon mount, for turrets) -------- $30mil
- Panther Clipper ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $120mil

Core Dynamics
- Fed only version of Vulture (pref' with 1 Large, 2 Medium and 2 Small weapons and "sharper" look) --- $15mil
- Fed Corvette ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $175mil

Saud Krueger
- Dolphin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $8mil
- Beluga ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $200mil+ (ultimate luxury ship)
- SK Fer De Lance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ $100mil

- Marlin (Racing ship small enough for CQC, fast and agile, 1 small or medium weapon only)------------- $1.2mil (DLC?)

Gutamaya
- I-Eagle ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $80k
- I-Cutter (Imperial eqiv. to Fed Corvette. Can be fitted to be ultimate explorer) -------------------------- $200mil
- Hunter (pref' as Gutamaya ship w/out rank req. 1 Large, 4 Small weapons, alternative to Vulture) ---- $10mil

- Maybe an I-Liner (passenger version of Clipper, not sure if needed, DLC maybe?) ----------------------- $50mil

I think this would give the best variety in manufacturers and ship roles/classes, allowing for smooth progression right from the sidey all the way up the 3 main paths.

-Another Federal ship. Maybe call it the Federal Nighthawk and give it 2 large, 2 small weapons, a black paint job and angular stealthy design like a larger Viper. Good heat management would make it good for silent running and smuggling. It could also be really fast, enough to outrun a Cobra, but be lacking in turning ability compared to other combat ships, so jousting would be the best strategy. ~30 million cr.
I second this. If only to bring parity for the Imp:Fed ship ratio. A fed military grade vulture. What's the point of the Feds being the "high tech faction" if they don't actually use that technology?

Though I kinda lost hope of anything even resembling Imp:Fed ship parity when I heard they were making an Imp variant Fer-De-Lance and saw a picture of the Devs wearing Empire logo tshirts at Lavecon.

Anyways...

Oddball request: The Lifter, a ship with no FSD slot, several dedicated cargo slots. Sole purpose is to transfer cargo between large ships and outposts, theoretically staying in the Anaconda (or other large ship's) hangars.

Other stuff?
Cobra Mk1, above the adder below the cobra mk3.
Tiger Transport, cheaper and less combat worthy version of the python.

We have already to many ships cost insane price! If you want more is because you grinding too much money and you don't know how to spend it.

I don't agree with this, there are not enough expensive ships at the moment if you ask me. In terms of cheap/moderately priced ships (under 10 million cr) we already have 12 out of the 20.

Within the remaining 10 ships I do believe there is room for maybe another 3 or 4 sub-10million cr ships but the rest should be expensive.

If the most powerful ships are cheap then everyone gets them and the game becomes unbalanced. An example of this is when they dropped the price of the FDL from 100 million to 50 million....While I admit that 50million is still quite expensive, now FDL's are quite common and in my opinion over-powered for the price (the shields are especially OP). They should have set them to 75 million in my opinion.

We need more high-end ships to counter-balance the current ones.

I second this. If only to bring parity for the Imp:Fed ship ratio.

Honestly I think there shuold be 3 Fed-locked and 4 Empire-locked, as we then get a sense of parity whilst implying an imperial sense of exclusivity vs federal capitalism.

Though I kinda lost hope of anything even resembling Imp:Fed ship parity when I heard they were making an Imp variant Fer-De-Lance.

Imp Fer-de-Lance? I had thought they were making a Saud Krueger one! Actually, outside of the flavour text, has this been confirmed anywhere?

I was kidding when I suggested the Lifter ;-;

If there's ever going to be the Interplanetary Shuttle and Lifter, I really hope that it's after ten years with all the expansions out and Frontier put them in as a bit of whimsy and a nod to the old game... spending time modelling those ships, their flight characteristics, interiors, etc seems like a pretty much out of sight down the list of priorities.

The Lifter could have a practical use now especially when we have Planetary Landings. Imagine using one to transport cargo from the very large ships to the planet surface?

A shuttle ship
---------------
Cheap, can be bought anywhere, even at outpost.
No internal slots, no shield, but so light that it runs faster than a Cobra and has an amazing jump range.
You know, a shuttle that can make you travel fast to go where your other ships are parked, while being very hard to take down (because a Hauler with rank A FSD is fine for the task, but vulnerable! And a Cobra with rank A thruster + distro + FSD is a pain to build every time!)

I just saw this thread, and my immediate thought was a shuttle.

I'll admit that my concept of a shuttle was a little different to yours. I was thinking of a ship that could be used to travel from a station/platform to the planet surface and back once planetary landings are here for those ships too big to land.

The other main use I would see for it would be unloading large cargo ships at outposts by ferrying 1 cargo container at a time. This would make it possible to deliver limited cargo to outposts for missions, without making trading to them viable for large ships.

I would like to see ships which don't conform to traditional ship design (cockpit on the front...etc.) similar to Corellian ships from Star Wars. I'm not sure something like that would fit in the Elite universe, but I'm sure FD can probably think of something outrageous that wouldn't be out of place in the universe.

OP here, great posts guy, keep them up

Sob, no one seems to like my new ships, I knew I shouldn't have given up my day job to become a spaceship designer ... lol

Your ships are good ideas, but not very well balanced. The first is good, what I wanted the Diamondback to be before it came out. And now you will get it in the form of the Imperial Eagle, though with smaller weapons than you described.

The second one is really unbalanced, while it would be cool to have external cargo strapped onto the ship, 512 is too much, that's almost a Type 9, not a Type 6! And if you had that much strapped to the outside, plus filled up you internal space, you would only be able to jump like 4 ly or less with an A class FSD. I think that a new cargo ship is the answer here rather than messing with the capacities of the current ones.

The third would also be unbalanced but not because of the ship itself, but with only very small internals you can't have a big fuel scoop, so nobody would actually explore with it. That's why many explorers hate the DBE, it can only have class 4 fuel scoop, with 32 ton fuel tank and class 5 FSD it's too slow fuelling for most people. I like the idea of an endgame explorer ship (even suggested it a few pages back).

i want a good fighter, no fighter ships are really worth it to be honest, they are not the fastest, they have a lot of issues, don't jump far, have a low fuel tank, bad power generator, not always very agile, and you can't do anything with them besides fighting.

and even worst, even the ultra expensive fer de lance is cursed by all these problems (and even more some others...)

How about a modified python . Less cargo capacity less armor but better maneuverbly and a huge hard point replacing the nose mounted large point cost will be about 80mil. It will will suffer from being slightly too slow and at max with shields only carry 128t.

We get the Imperial Eagle now, but I hope for Thargoids soon. And after that the Federal Corvette. After that both the Krait, Mamba and Gecko are on the wish list. Give us everything from Frontier, First Encounters and the original Elite in a steady flow and throw in some new stuff. A big random diversity of ships. You never know whats around the next corner, uhhh I ment planetoid :p

Here's my complete list of ships I'm looking forward to/want to see in the game;

Mamba
Imperial Cutter
Federal Corvette
Boa
Panther Clipper
Krait
Gecko
Taipan (if you're going to use snakes for naming you can't ignore the most venomous land one of all can you?)

Like this

Taipan, yes it has to be a deadly ship, just the name "Taipan" is fearsome. I hope they make something with that snake name. And the Crow.

Panther Clipper & Federal Corvette please.....more big ships need to be introduced, really starting to get sick of only the small ships getting added.

New weapons and modules . Hanger bay for anaconda and/or other large ships. The ability to salvage wrecks for equip/resale. The ability to capture ships when certain conditions are met. (most vital internals fried or pilot killed through canopy hit)

Ion cannons
Sniper Cannon (looooong range projectile weapon)
interdiction field emitter (pulls ships from supercruise or prevents frame shift charge in a large area)
Flak Cannon
tractor beam (for mining or salvage)
sensor jammer/scrambler
sensors with enhanced module targeting
Supercharged Engines for both flight and evasion
Stealth variant on all gear or cloak
internal expansion (maybe at cost of hardpoint) vice versa
Homing Mines
Cluster Mines
Ion Mines
Tweaker Module (you can overclock a pc, let's overclock a viper for face melting speed or scanners for near instant bounty checking at expense of power requirements/other module performance.)
Automated drone boarding pod (for large craft)
Directional Shields (or the ability to stack more than one generator)
Ammo Crates (counts as cargo)
Loading Module(s) works with ammo crates
Tracking bug
Retractable canopy plating With sensor flight (for all those bad days we occasionally have)
Plastisteel hull armor (to make your craft even lighter at expense of combat durability)

I'll save the ships for u dudes but some type of missile boat (cap ship killer largely useless against fighters without escorts).

Station warfare.
