Should Missions now be Rank locked again?

I wish Combat rank was risk based, i.e a larger % increase for taking on elite Large ships in small eagles / underdog ships etc, rather than swatting them with one shot kills from the safety of a G5 engineered Corvette with 30kJ shields.
Then I would likely be already elite and just get more bullet sponges spawned on me. Not a really terrific outlook, imo.

Hmm aren't shield strenght in MJ's. I mean my IRL rifle can fire bullet with muzzle energy of little less than 4 kJ...
 
Yeah .. I said relatively. This is my long term goal actually. Max out the Cobra MK3 with engineering/guardian stuff. I have it currently A rated. :)
Good plan cmdr. My mk 3 runs with prismatics, cell banks and 2200 armour points, twin beams and multis, runs in at 600m/s in a flash of chrome.

No, they were not.

Removing rank as a visible gating mechanic was an intentional part of the mission board revamp that was delivered in 2.1



Is not possible as missions only scale to a few ranks ahead or behind your current rank.

This is why I have to clear my save periodically. The combat missions become too hard to my taste. I was trying to show how to do combat missions to someone a few says ago and I was just unable to find an easy mission! So because I did some combat, the entire universe became very badass...

Hmmm.... so I play a dumb little game on my mobile... it lets you choose what level you want missions to spawn at (Level 1 through to 10), including a lower and upper bound, although there's no reason not to choose level 10 (just trust me on this one, it really is a dumb little game).

I wonder if there's merit to such a thing here? I can't think of any distinct advantages to "Generate harmless missions, even though I'm Elite combat rank", but ofc I don't know what's under the hood.

Flooding the mission board might be one not-so-desired outcome.
Would be funny to pop some harmless-novice NPCs for pennies every now and then though, just for laughs.
