No thanks. The universe and.travel within it currently fits (very loosely) into physics as we understand it so that it doesn't take a huge suspension of disbelief. Having a "portable wormhole" or similar would just make most of the galaxy superfluous. Where's the challenge in getting a nebula, or Sag A, or Hutton station etc if you can just fast travel there? There's plenty of places you can travel to ludicrously quickly already.

A navigation computer that can handle Cruise control would be ideal. All the super cruise keep it in the blue rubber banding is a frustrating mini-game nothing more. Add in a purchasable cruise control module.

So having a new mode with fast travel would be fine then right? You could still just play in a mode that didn't offer it.

Exactly...if one does't like it for self..then choose to not use it. What is anynes gain to begrudge those that want it?

Talk about petty.

I am pretty sure a spaceship can be considered a flying mount...

Oh I meant flying mounts for the spaceships. We need instant summoning whistles too. And guildhouses - no game is complete without guildhouses. And an auction too while we're at it - and universe-wide chat and DLC hats.

The galaxy is mostly superfluous. The whole idea of a galaxy simulator is nice an all as a curiosity, but it's a terrible game. FDev focused heavily on making the universe, it's basically a 3d still life. I've been to art gallery and enjoyed them but even a massive gallery like the Louvre only has a day or two of walking around looking at stuff in it before ennui sets in.

FDev need to focus on economy, they simulated a universe and forgot to create a game... when they did put some effort into creating a game they offered up PowerFail which is basically a freemium game without the ability to buy in. there is no trading computer module in game.. and just look at the fan creations, players want one so bad they create their own.

It not a game because we are forced to spend time in super cruise keeping it in the blue. It's only a game if there is meaningful interaction, with an economy and between players. (and don't get me started on the griefers paradise PvP design)

The only reason we cant fast travel.. say to one of our ships locations is convenience of development. It's not a bug it's a feature.

Instant summoning whistles... like for my ship... that feature that was promised ages ago! I'l like to use a horn and call my ship Gondor.

Auctions are a good idea ... not in an of themselves(which is where d3 went wrong), but as a symptom of a sophisticated meaningful economy. If a game economy can support an auction it's a good game. Just like if there are gold sellers, it means it's a good economy. Gold sellers are parasites yes, but parasites need blood to exist, the blood of a living thing. Having parasites means the thing is alive.

I've seen people ask for fast travel in one form or another, I disagree, but I do their point. Having it as a sep. mode, though, doesn't strike me as making sense. It's not a separate style of game play to just get to places faster. In practice, I suspect most people who used this would simply go into FT mode to travel, then log out and back in into open.

If there's going to be an open PvE mode then they might as well add fast travel as well.
Someone in the interdiction thread wanted an option to turn off NPC interdictions in solo. Might as well add that too.

Soon the WoWification of Elite will be complete!

Hurrah for homogeny!

There's a significant difference between an idea that a few people support but if generally considered to not be a good idea (eg: fast travel or interdiction immunity) and an idea that's widely accepted by a majority of players in one form or another (increased support for PvE play in some way). Please don't conflate one with the other, and please refer to more appropriate threads to continue such conversations rather than derailing this one.

You need to level up your staple gun-fu ;)

One elf. Two elfs. You'll be putting V's in a plurality of dwarf next ;) Or is it still dwarrows?

Elf, elven, elves.
Dwarf, dwarven, dwarves.
Orc, orcish, orcs.

The only difference is the number of people in favour.
The quality of the suggestions are equal(ly bad)

This is why FD do the game design and not the players.

And when the point of this thread is to be a parody of the other thread, referencing the other thread isn't derailment.

Pah - Elminster is a clueless n00b who can't even fly a Sidewinder right. Aragorn got him drunk one night, Moonglum stripped him of everything valuable, and Jack of Shadows stapled him to the Ellcrys while Buck Rogers sent charcoal-sketches to everyone in Baldur's Gate.

He's spot on about the parody bit.

That makes it a confirmed opinion. That however lends no credence to his earlier opinion.
