Atomic, can you take a pic of what Elite looks like while playing it on that monitor?
Here is my messy set up

And mine.
Monitor behind runs task manager so I can get it if the game hangs. Laptop for recording trade data and google chat.

Ok need to ask - what's with the paper bag hat on the monitor?
It's a low tech way of covering the webcam. I did have a yoghurt pot in honour of Blue Peter, but I think my wife threw it away.
I thought that was going to be your answer but kind of hoped it was hiding some kind of secret gadget![]()
Sure didnt know if you wanted camera or in game screen shots, here is camera (htc one x original) shots so apologies for quality, but hope this gives what your after.

Plenty of awesome setups here, I particularly like noxenlux's. What I'd do with a few hundred quid spare
Anyone given in to temptation and gone for: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-000-MW yet?
Well yeah, thats just all he's telling you it is. Its probably something that'll ultimately cause the demise of everyone in Elite, but no good mad scientist would just let you know that.
At least not until he's cackling "BWA HAHA HAH HAA!!! Its too LATE to stop me now!!!!"
Interesting to see people's set-ups. I think it is interesting that the vast majority of multiple monitor set-ups are horizontal. I'd of thought that, since pitch is so important, what is going on above you is most interesting. So after the first, straight ahead, field of view the next most important area would be directly above that. So two monitors with one on top of the other might be a good set-up.
When I watch videos of rift users they seem to spend a lot of time looking up so they can watch an enemy as they pitch up and bring them back into the weapon arc.
With the classic elite scanner it is a very easy thing to do to roll so that someone is above you. Once they are above you that is when I'd want to see them. With a wide horizontal set-up isn't the first thing you do roll and then lose them from sight?

With two monitors this could be feasible, but with three it presents a big problem with the bezel being in the middle of your field of view, slap bang over your crosshairs.

If you have a head tracker of one form or another this isn't too much of a problem. Having the monitors in this format also allows you to just use the centre screen for the game and side screens for browsing/TV etc if you're just doing a jump-in-jump-out session.
At least, that's what seems to be working for me![]()
+rep for the tasteful table lamp.
