No clue what that is, is that uploading to YouTube? Editing? What’s going on 😅
It was producing in my editing software (turning it into an mp4 file) and it is now uploading to youtube 😁 but I'm gonna keep it private until I've checked all the settings are working how I'd like them to.

@Captain Callum at what point did you start adding ads? Right from the outset or did you post a few vids without ads to begin with?

I didn't 😅 any ads at the start or in the middle of the video are forced by YouTube. You need over 1000 subscribers to able to manually add ads and get revenue from them. The only thing I add is the end screen thanks for watching screen for my other videos.

It was actually, the first and the probably single largest food shop I ever visited. The grocery stores in the uk, at least in the northeast/north scotland, are tiny in comparison. Entering the door was like entering the gates of heaven for food choices, I would never leave.
That’s how like all the grocery stores around me are. They’re all so big and have so much food, it’s awesome! I could literally live in there for months

Y'all haven't seen HEB yet🤣
HEB has a parking lot underneath the actual grocery store. Yes, this is a big Texas chain. HEB also owns Joe V's, which is like cheaper...

And then, I dunno how it is where you at, Orkan, but here we have grocery stores with apartments built on top...
Want bacon for breakfast but ran out? You can take the elevator down, get your bacon, then head back up

Youtube forces ads?! That's so evil! Don't feel so guilty for using my adblocker now tho 😅 g2k thank you 😊
It's really annoying, I earn nothing from the ads because I don't meet the criteria and my audience has to suffer ads as well. I did laugh when I made a reptile house video, everyone got Spanish ads because the title had 'Spanish' in it 😂

Heres a view of how far I'm from being eligible for ads:

There are three big supermarket chains near me: Stop and Shop, (my favorite) Shaws/Star Market (same company, different name on different stores for some reason) and Market Basket. You make them sound tiny with your Texas chains 😂

There’s a Trader Joe’s near a mall that is getting replaced with stores with apartments on top, so I guess that kinda counts

Oh thanks so much for sharing that, really insightful! You're almost half way there! Lmk when you get there and I'll make sure to turn off my adblocker to watch. I heard that in order for the algorithm to pick up on your videos and rank them higher in searches you need to be very consistent and regular with your posting. I think for now I'm just going to call everything 'fun' and 'for practice' and see if my skills develop / i find a niche. Or find out if I hate it and this isn't for me...I can't devote as much time to this as I have this week for reals!

Haha every English city has streets like that! The lazy part of me always saw the attraction...but I'm glad not to live in a city

Round here it's like, a tiny corner shop who even let my dog come in and sell absolute trash but its useful...
A great market Thurs-Sun with Foodie Fridays on the last Friday evening of every month - that's my fave, lots of great world food 😋
A polish shop and a middle eastern shop that have some good stuffs

And then 3 supermarkets dotted around but they're probably tiny compared with your American megaliths

The algorithm is going to completely forget about me  could be like 3 months before I can start posting again. But yes, consistent/regular videos is very important for your videos to be visible. You need a good thumbnail, title and first 30 seconds to maintain a good number of viewers - the thumbnail, especially an attractive custom one like most successful PZ youtubers do is essential for channel growth.

Don't stress yourself to post weekly, I've been told by large planet zoo creators I'm one of the most consistent and regular planet zoo creators there is. It's easy for me since I do very little editing and no voiceover so I can roll out videos at a good pace, I just need time to build. Ideally you want to make videos for fun! Don't make videos just for the sake of content, you will hate yourself for it and your audience will take notice very quickly the work you do is not something you want to do.

Make them for fun, slowly realise your niche to make yourself stand out and unique among the planet zoo community, if you don't like the stress of making videos often you can either do them every 2-3 weeks or even monthly or stop completely. Try out 2-3 videos to find out if you think you like it, if not by then I would rethink it.

Thanks so much for all this wonderful advice 🥰 hugely appreciated. I will keep hold of this for future reference!

I want to reinforce these points.

I'm not a YouTuber. Making videos just isn't for me. My fellow Houstonian Old Country just announced that it isn't for him anymore. But he have a good point: it felt like a chore, almost, having to feel like he had to do something and he'd sacrifice time for the channel. So now, he's retiring his channel and moving on to other things (although he did paint PZ in a positive light)

But, don't let your channel or the need to upload feel like a burden or a chore. Do it at your own pace, and have fun. If you wanna do a simple speed build, no narration, go for it.
If you wanna do a speculation video, do it.
But the important thing is to have fun when making your videos. I hope that you do enjoy it, and I can't wait to see what you come up with

My local supermarket for reference, this is probably one of the smaller ones

Here are some examples in Houston:

This is HEB. I had to move the camera to another parking lot just to get this Google maps shot

One of the Whole Foods Market grocery stores. They have a robotic coffee maker inside (although I never use it)

THAT’S ALL A GROCERY STORE?!?!?!? 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

I would get lost in there, I have no idea how you navigate that thing. That’s like stadium sized.

There's a reason they say Everything is bigger I'm Texas. It's not just in nature; even grocery stores are humongous, and what's funny is that you can't always find what you need, either

Edit: the bottom pic, actually the 1st and 2nd stories are the grocery store. The rest is apartments
