Sidewinder vs Thargoid Medusa: A tribute to CMDR Maligno

CMDR Maligno recently retired from active AX combat. The videos of his feats inspired a whole generation of AX CMDRs to learn and improve their skill further, including yours truly.

To date, Maligno's most recognizable (and, until now, never replicated) kill was his solo kill of a Medusa in a humble Sidewinder.

As a tribute to such an outstanding CMDR, here's the second-ever Medusa solo in a sidewinder.

While inspired by Maligno's build, the design route I took was quite different (I went speed vs Maligno's going hull), which in turn allowed me to do the fight much faster (37 minutes, versus Maligno's 1 hour and 31 minutes.)

Has anyone fought an interceptor on-foot yet? There's definitely ability to do that... hang around bug killer, wait for the spawn, land, disembark, then pew pew.

Has anyone fought an interceptor on-foot yet? There's definitely ability to do that... hang around bug killer, wait for the spawn, land, disembark, then pew pew.

You can take advantage of the interceptor's "perfect" aim to be unhittable by standing in the right spot behind an obstacle, but handheld weapons still don't do anything to it.

I tried ... unfortunately without heatsinks and with phasing damage, SLFs are unviable for solo combat

Any two-small-hardpoints Hydra is unfortunately practically impossible. It is nominally JUST mathematically possible (with premium ammo) but with such long time to exert that it effectively becomes unfeasible.
