Sign of things to come? Rampant PK'er/exploiter finds himself exiled

Self-acknowledgement to his unfortunate end:

This is it. The end of CMDR <snip>.. I tried logging in last night and found no players in any of the usual popular places. Then I tried again today with the same result, multiple times. I then was successfully able to log in via a friend's account to the exact same space station, on the same computer and immediately, and repeatably found other players. So I can only conclude that the day is finally here! My goal is complete, and the community has what they want! I have been banned, and I accept it implicitly.

You have all called me many things, and I accept most of it. I did many <snip> things to you all in game, and I did get A LOT of pleasure out of killing you all repeatedly. But my 15 minutes of minuscule internet infamy is up. So a few parting words, and then your Elite will be much safer with me gone...

Things I did not do:

-Cheat (install hacks, modify game file data, etc)

-Combat log

-Self Destruct to get back into a station

Things I DID do:

-Camp stations and kill anyone and everyone as they were about to dock, many, many times.

-Verbally abuse people before killing them, with such trademark lines as, <snip>

-Exploit dumbfires to their fullest potential

-Use hatchbreakers to cause the station to kill people (did you know they attack people THROUGH the station walls?)

-Interdict and KOS when not camping stations

But now it comes to a close. For the record, I was never anything but honest with all the things I've said to you :) And I do consider it the highest indirect form of praise when people scream "Hacker!!!" It means my understanding of a game is so far beyond the person I'm playing against that they can't explain how I beat them with anything short of magic. And this is one of the things I do for fun.. Min/Max a game until I get an edge. Find ways of playing that other people haven't thought about, then use it against them. In Elite I was just able to figure out more optimizations and exploits than usual, which lead us here. (for example, I'm still able to make 20m-30m cr an hour, with something I doubt more than a handful of people have figured out is possible.) And I did get off on your rage at losing your space ship. I see enough death in my real life to not get too riled up about death in games. My final advice is to chill, and enjoy the bad (me) with the good when playing a game. There's bigger things to get worked up over out there.

If they got him, others can't be far behind, and are possibly playing right now wondering why there are no hollow contact points on their scanner.

All I can say is "buh bye." And kudos to Frontier for taking action.

I hope this is not true. Banning without giving notice to the player, that would be a new low for FD. Lets not forget, that he did not cheat or anything.

This actually makes Frontier look rather bad - no cheats or other illegal action took place, only legit in game ways to beat opponents.

If anything, it showed them the mirror, and the truth they saw hurt.

He wasn't banned at all. He can still play the game all he wants. He just got sent to time-out because he couldn't play nice with others. If he decides to not to click the Play button because his helpless targets have been taken away from him, that's entirely up to him, right?

C'mon, he wasn't being noble trying to alert FD to flaws in the game. He's not a noble martyr. This isn't some freedom of expression issue, where someone is taking a stand to right some grievous wrong of society. He was out to ruin the enjoyment of paying customers of a video game with the sole intent of making people miserable and admitted it himself. As much as he wants to play the part, he's not the Joker, introducing chaos into a world of complacency. He was a bully trying to steal other peoples' fun for his own enjoyment. I'm afraid I don't see any nobility in that, and the game creators acted accordingly.

Yeah this is no good FD. This bad practice better not continue. Considering you said pking was valid part of the game. Also he needs notice of a ban and needs clarification of why.
No cheats were involved and the only reason he could do it he did was because you waited to long to patch your game.

Read the Reddit. He admits to verbally abusing people. He also admits exploiting game mechanics.

No great loss really, and he's not actually banned, he's just been put in time out. If he were banned, he wouldn't be able to log on at all.

And they sent Al Capone to Alcatraz for tax evasion. What's your point?
That this thread is senseless click bait, with the title implying Frontier did something because of his mass killings, IE: Grief.

They infact, did not. Grief away, just be polite when you do it and don't verbely abuse people.

Anyways, watch this thread derail so hard it ends up being about what gives people the right to grief.

He was exploiting bugs in the game in order to ruin other players' fun. He knew he was doing this. That he got slapped on the wrist wasn't some mysterious surprise.

If it even happened.

That's pretty lame. He was a genuine psycho and even blew me up once (due to my own stupidity). But I laughed about it. As should others. The guy was hilarious and his name (and partner's) was classic. AI can be a psycho. Why can't a human? I was looking forward to the day of finally bagging him--like a trophy on the wall. But I knew it'd be tough as he truly has good piloting skills. But--that's the point of Elite, right? Trying to be the best...

And I see no significant loss by him being temp/ perma banned it was pretty much his goal to see how much crap he could get away with before he got slapped upside the head. We already have enough toxic players in multiplayer games we don't need more of them.

Oh, I disagree 100%. It's not click bait. This is another player voicing approval. This guy was openly and enthusiastically trying to ruin the experience for other players just to get his rocks off. Frontier has made no statement as to why he was isolated in his own solo instance. I was the recipient of a foul language warning before and I'm still here. I think this goes a little deeper than <The CMDR> calling people names, and I approve of the move of putting him in his own private instance where he can act how he wants. It's very telling that without a multi-player universe to act out in, he's decided to move on.

For the record, I'm 100% open play. I'm 100% in favor of PvP, player piracy, and making the game universe live up to the name of Dangerous... But this dude's goal was grief, period. The only thing he gets credit for is admitting it, and even that doesn't amount to much.

In case people aren't reading the link (apparently some aren't because they're posting he's banned)

1) he was not banned. he can play all he wants. This is what would be known as the OPPOSITE of a ban. He admits he can still play all he wants.
2) he cannot see other human players. This is the only action taken against him.
3) killing other human players did not cause him to be relegated to a special human-free instance, it was his vulgarity and exploits. Both of which he admits.

So, in conclusion, his ONLY complaint is that he can no longer swear at other human players in the game and kill them using exploits he admits to. Not that he can't actually play the game, because he can, he just can't verbally abuse others and use exploits to grief.... that's it. Nothing more. Again, HUNDREDS of players kill other players WITHOUT using exploits and swearing, and NONE of them have been relegated to NPC-only mode.
