That might work for potential players, but shareholders aren't going to be overly wowed by the prospect of a year's worth of free content. Like I said, they want to see profit growth and increased shareholder payouts. The rest is just fluff.
Investment sometimes means, you have to invest more than green.
Sometimes, it's about monitoring the value of beige.
I guess it depends how much skin you have in the game and how driven by the bottom line you are as a shareholder. It's stakeholders that make the real decisions, in real time. It seems, although I may be wrong, they understand the monetary aspect of fiscal investment by shareholders has been devalued by the roadmap changing. So yeah, it's about juggling right now, to raise the perception of value and the competence of the leadership.
I think in that sense, FD have managed very well. Long term, we may see evidence of learning having happened. Which will justify those decisions, and raise the share price through market confidence.
