Which game mode will you be playing most?

Solo, alone in a big universe, exploring and trying to find your way.

With friends, making a private server for you and your friends.

Public, playing on one of the public servers that FD or someone else will be setting up.

i made these 3 options because i think thats the options that we will be getting, tho i could be wrong.

i for one will be mainly playing single player and maybe on a private server with my friends.

Ever since MMO's started hitting the scene I still had one single player game that I would go back to and play. That was Frontier: Elite 2. For years I have thought how awesome this game would be as an MMORPG.

Now it looks like Elite: Dangerous will fill finally allow us to play with others in this enormous universe they are making. Not a massive fan of this instancing with a set number of players, I would have preferred one server where everyone can play in the same universe. Heck it is more than big enough!

However it is still a huge step in the right direction. For me personally, single player games are obsolete and something that just doesn't interest me anymore. However, the fact that David is catering to both sets of fans shows how important this game is to him and to get it right.

For me, multiplayer all the way.

FD have already stated that ED wont be running with a server list format. So unless they change their minds or tell us something different down the line, we'll not be seeing private servers.

Connection is to FD servers (for the persistent galaxy element), with P2P either partly or wholly handing player interactions.

Only modes confirmed so far are single player offline, single player online (connected to the evolving galaxy) and multiplayer online.

A private server wouldn't be connected to the persistent universe, which would suggest it wont be supported.

Is there really going to be a private server option? I've never heard anything about that.
I've only heard of the 'friends group' option, which I've interpreted as being functionally (in the gameplay sense) similar to a private server, but still using Frontier's own servers for connection purposes. However, much of the game will be run on p2p technology even when you're playing in the public 'all' group.

Very interesting to see the implementation, similar to the one made in the Blizzard game Star Craft - there is a great single player campaign, and have a game in multiplayer, which contain the title for certain achievements.
I would like to see in the E: D it was so done.

Voted both Solo and Public. I'd prefer to be online, just because it's less predictable. I don't always have access to an internet connection, though, so obviously I'll have to play with myself then (steady now - I already said there's no internet connection).

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Mix of solo and multi, like others have said. If the multi is too harsh re PvP and grieving then I will switch to single offline.

Can't really answer this right now. I'd prefer to see other players around me, regardless of whether I'm interacting with them or not, but what I really wan't to avoid is PvP because I've precisely zero interest in that because I have no deep need to go around showing people how big my epeen is.

Having thought about it long and hard since previous posts, i'll probably go MP with SP when i find i dont have the time to be there for friends in MP mode.

I will be aiming for single player to start off with then multi-player once I'm familiar with the game and find like minded players to enjoy MP mode..;)
