Skybox Nerfed?

Btw they cut the transition of the planets from white dots to the real model. Now is really close.Everytime when i'm flying to some planet i see how the model pops really close.LOD distance should be in the graphic options. Also i think i'm not the only one who notice they also cut the polycount on the planets.Currently i can count the polygons on the models. This wasnt like that before. Its not like they have ridiculous amount of geometry on screen.

Has someone submitted a ticket with some screenshots? It could be your seeing a bug to do with the combination of options your using at the moment. The skybox should look lovely at all times!

I wonder if they are nerfing all this stuff because a few people were getting stuttering?

It makes no sense to slam the majority of people with poor quality, as has been said a few times, let use choose in options.

I'm used to a beautiful smooth view and a want the option to get it back, exploring is very disappointing now, it used to be jaw dropping, now it's eyebrow dropping :(

Hi Matt, thanks for dropping by and I personally love your art! But something changed in 1.0.0 regarding the skybox, nebula still look awesome, but the space around them looks like black grainy smoke. There must be some detail in the change log regarding the skybox

It seems in some instances that they are stuck in a loop where players complain about a feature, they fix it and then get complaints about the fix... The only way round this would be to put fixes in that may alter the minimum specs for the game, leaving some players with a game their PCs can't run... Don't get me wrong, I play World of Warcraft and I've been waiting for them to bring the game into line with newer PC specs over the years for a while now and it hasn't happened. But this game is brand new and should be allowed to develop within the range of current mid range specs and as time moves on then so do the minimum specs.

Nothing has been nerfed on a visual side, we've never removed an option or degraded something on purpose. We do optimise things and shuffle settings but nothing should stop things looking lovely. Screenshots are going to help on this one though! We did add a hires close up dust layer to mimic local dust before release, this shouldn't be blurry or fuzzy though and should add to the general cohesive feel of the galaxy.

I don't have the problem you're reporting but try playing around with your gamma levels and monitor settings (brightness/contrast/temp etc), you may have one too high to compensate one being too low.

Well I'm at work so can't test this - but if a lead developer says there's no nerf then maybe we should be uploading photos of this potential bug????
I'm sure FD are proud of their work (as they should be) and if there's a bug that makes them look bad they'll want to ........... squash it!!!

Matt ... is there any option to get a higher res galaxy on the skybox for those that can run it? On my 3 screen setup the stretching on the side screens makes it look a little iffy.

Hi Matt, sorry i'm not best placed for screen shot hosting, can we still take a hi-rez screen if so how?? I'll sort out a host in the meantime. Now you mention the dust layer... maybe it's that?

Just smack F10 in-game. Stores the pic to somewhere like "C:\users\blablabla\Pictures\Frontier Development\Elite Dangerous". You can then add it as attachment to your post and leave the hosting to frontier.co.uk.

Take a screenshot with F10
Open that screenshot in Paint and save it as a PNG to reduce file size.
Upload to imgur.com

Alternatively, use something like mega.co.nz to put the hi-rez screenshot (ALT F10) to share there if the problem is not so easily seen on a lower rez screenshot

Hey,

I prefer the old skybox settings as well. 'T was so pretty to look at, and I did not suffer from any performance issues.

Edit: It changed back to the old skybox for now. For a while it was all just black with only a scattering of a few white-only stars. Should it occur again, will provide screenshot.

Cheers,
