Smuggling missions now pointless.

It seems FDev fixed the issue in the wrong way. I've held off on a comment until I had a chance to play a bit but for the last week I've been bumming around and occasionally going "ooh 600k smuggling mission, gonna get me some of that" when I checked the BB. Now these occasional cherry missions are all but gone, haven't seen 1 all evening.

The problem wasn't that the missions spawned too much or that they paid too much but that people were re logging to stack tens of mission all together. THAT was the issue that needed fixing.

That being said fixing the re logging exploit is a bigger issue so hopefully this is just a temporary nerf until they can fix the underlying problem.

As with all arguments on the internet the 2 sides seem to have polarised, but IMHO the truth is somewhere in the middle. Given the price structure in this game making 20mil/h in low to mid level ships is, frankly, ridiculous. However, smuggling absolutely should make considerably more than regular trading, otherwise why would anyone risk it.

And to those of you who were re logging and making 20mil+/hr, I realise that there's no rule against it but you have successfully ruined a good thing for everyone else by exploiting a game mechanic. I hope you enjoy your riches and discover sooner rather than later that having all the credits doesn't necessarily make the game better.

Because its about balance, Sothis was unbalanced the lower end ones weren't.

i'm not with you on that.

i played smuggler for most of the last months, doing missions.

it always payed me as much as i could have earned in my clipper or python trading - while flying my cobra.

last weekend i was able to pull off three sothis runs of 3-4 hours (without BB refresh exploit). it was shameless, goldrush, amazing fun.

after earning above 200 mio, i decided it's enough, and got back into the bubble, took my cobra, collecting data on the bgs and rares, picking a smuggling mission here and there.

basically i ended up NOT taking more than one rare good with me, because the smuggling mission payout where simply to much. if that is the case, something is very wrong. i didn't focussed on smuggling, i just picked up what was there. and made another 80 miollion over the last week.

i would probably even say it the other way round: while the goldrush in sothis created an intense and crazy gme experience by heavy mission stacking (and you would need to take a ship not perfect for the smuggling job, like an Asp), the "regular" in bubble long-distance missions didn't add a lot to the experience beside a lot of money.

i will still go on smuggling, of course. it's a fun way to play the game. i can't stand RES or CZ for longer than 30 min. each his own!

Smuggling still pays more than it ever did in 1.3, you've just become numb to the numbers because they were so outrageous for a week straight.

But of course you will always get the whiners that complain about not having enough time to get a Conda. Well guess what, thats how the game has always been, its always taken long to progress. Maybe you should look into playing other games (that you have time for), or try out CQC.. it was designed for the instant gratification crowd that doesnt have the time and patience to earn what they want.

Jeeze you still butt hurt about others getting stuff quicker than you. I did it the hard way too but I don't go crying all over the forums (oh and put in a bug report lol). You really need to look for other game to play which won't make you so jealous. I don't think this game is for you.

Least you stuck to you principles and didn't get involved, I respect you for that..

Ahhh is that your way of saying I was right?

EDIT: You should try starting a new job and asking for the big pay right off the bat, without putting any effort in. See what happens XD... but then you will probably complain and say the people that have been there for years are just jealous of you wanting big money right of the bat because they had to earn it

No I don't think you were right crying that others were getting an perceived easy run especially because you were doing it yourself. If you actually had some principles you would have stayed well away while putting in bug reports and coming in here doing your best to get it banned..

Well you must feel very smug now drying up all those tiers thinking what a good job you have done... Your Mom must be proud of you...

In regard to your "real world" scenario in trying to justify crying over a video game (lol), you statement isn't even really that relevant..

Anyway I heard they have buffed something somewhere, you better get on to it....

- - - Updated - - -

In other words, you're upset that others are having fun getting in an hour what you had to mindlessly grind for days.

Yep that is pretty much it. I do like how he is doing the smuggling missions himself lol...

Maybe we should nerf Imperial Slaves and Palladium or reduce the cargo hold of T9's and Tradecondas... That is unfair to those who don't trade!!! Can you get on to that for me Slack..

Not even worth my time talking to you 2... here is a copy of a previous post addressing trolls like yourselves.

"All these irrelevant arguments that have nothing to do with the topic, which is "are the new smuggling missions balanced"? The people saying its a HUGE increase especially combined with "refreshing" missions are correct, unless you cant do math. The people that defend it, can only argue by attacking another persons character, saying "youre jealous" "you worry about what others do too much" ect ect... Try arguing the actual point! You cant! When you can no longer defend your position and stay on topic and are forced to attack the individual instead, youve lost the argument."

Ok sum up my reply.
- They still exist just actually rare now.
- Giving 'time restricted' people the ability to be able to get something quickly, like this would make people able to run anaconda's within days, this also means that the people that do have time will be able to reach a level where they can recklessly throw around anaconda and other ships, meaning time restricted people will still be at a disadvantage, because they will have a risk of losing something that the others won't have.
- Elite Dangerous is about significantly more then getting the biggest ship, I could have grinded my way up to anaconda fairly quickly if I wanted, but I didn't and I had a ton of fun flying around in smaller ships.

The only troll he is you. Hope you enjoy your new found popularity here :).

Does it make you feel good about yourself putting others down? What a horrible way to live a life. Enjoy your misery.

For a guy who single handedly did his best to spoil others stroke of luck because the salty tears just got too much I find it fairly hypocritical that would would complain about other ruining you fun when you just spoilt most of this forums fun..

You must feel pretty good now...

It's just sad that a DEV can't seem to make a balanced judgement on these things, ok nerf it fair enough but don't destroy it. Now I sit in my system looking at missions that to be honest aren't even worth my time reading let alone actually doing.

If we were to use the mechanics of this very game as an anology, the heaviest influencial faction over the FD dev system is the whine and cheese party. As you said it, almost all MMOs seem to react out of fear rather than actually KNOW what balance adjustment is...

Why not take an actual FD launched poll over these actions, rather than using a fire poker to adjust things totally willie nillie?

Youre not just a troll, but a delusional one too... you make me laugh

Exactly. And the nerf they did implement isn't going to deter the mode switchers anyway, because they'll just keep switching modes until they get their 80M worth of missions - only difference is that it will take two hours of switching instead of 20 minutes. Meanwhile those of us who only play a couple hours a week get the probulator.

Hear hear, Sir or Madam. Rep given.

You may not like it but FD already said they do not consider the relogging an exploit, and Micheal Brookes stated it is completely allowed to do when asked about it for resetting RES zone spawns. If you are gonna accuse people of exploiting then make sure you are not making false accusations

"In other words, you're upset that others are having fun getting in an hour what you had to mindlessly grind for days." that was your reply to me, i think its very fitting here as well XD

No, I'm the guy who only gets to play a few hours a week, so with these larger payouts I was for the first time able to make a halfway decent amount of cash from smuggling - I'm not going to waste an hour docked and bouncing the main menu when I could be flying. Thanks to your sterling efforts, I'm now saved from myself and can make money morally grinding imperial slaves or chasing eagles in a RES.

Are you sure? I just carried out a 630 credit smuggle on a 33 ly trip just last night? I didn't check tonight as I was doing CZ, but try a different system as they vary wildly in payouts

There is still some decent money missions. I saw one for 1.6 million today. I also saw one for 100K and over 400ly out. Definitely passed on that one. :)

Well what can I say, we all know about the Sothis nerf not that I really had a problem with it anyway but smuggling was the only thing that brought me back into the game.
I knew about Sothis and the riches to be made there but I wasn't greedy I found a nice system that was giving me missions for 600k for a 90 LY trip, I was happy carving out my own little space slowly building up a nest egg to buy a ASP and go exploring the outer reaches.
The system wasn't even handing out multiple missions like Sothis was just one or two a time, nice little payment of couple mill an hour that was enough for me I was happy due to my limited time I get to play anyway.

So what happens Sothis get nuked of course, you can't have an MMO without the usual moaning ers that seem to infest everyone of these games, but why has every other system got nuked as well? Smuggling missions from what I've seen tonight have been made completely pointless yet again. Now all I get are the same missions for a quarter of the price to do further jumps...why am I going to do that.

Unfortunately some of us don't get to spend their lives on games so this was nice for us "time-restricted" folk. The game is a bloody grind fest as it is already without making it flipping worse.
I haven't got a problem with nuking the big payouts although I still don't understand why everyone was complaining, so what someone earn't 40mil an hour? (fair play to them). Just because your line of work doesn't pay that much what's the problem?

It's just sad that a DEV can't seem to make a balanced judgement on these things, ok nerf it fair enough but don't destroy it. Now I sit in my system looking at missions that to be honest aren't even worth my time reading let alone actually doing.

I havent accepted a smuggling mission ALL day. Not a single one over 200.000k have showned in either of the sytems where i am allied.
I made Entrepreneur Trade yesterday so this obviously sucks for me. So i guess someone got their will. Back to trucking again it is. Well played FD, well played.
