On the off chance that smuggling was supported but undocumented, I tested smuggling some Personal Weapons from a system controlled by my power to a system controlled by an enemy power. It did not contribute any merits / control points. It would be really nice if smuggling could be included as a way to undermine, as it makes perfect lore sense and is great fun.

There really does need to be a revamp of criminal activity. I'd love it if smuggling and piracy were actually profitable, that would be fun as hell.

Playing for Patreus, I'm basically half cop and half gangster anyway. Can't let the Delaine boys have all the fun.

I agree wholeheartedly.

They should make a proxy smuggling for your Power, drugs and slaves from Robigo to the old micro-bubble of planets - the old Robigo smuggling run. :)
 
Smuggling/piracy have had no love from the developers since God knows when.
Nows the time fdev!
Golden opportunity for some propper gameplay. And if so please have smuggling missions also reward with merits and or mats
 
I can't for the life of me understand how this isn't part of "commit crimes".

There aren't many other crimes you can commit in the game. And murder is the only one that seems to yield merits, as raiding installations/megaships definitely doesn't.

Undermining really needs more attention.
Smuggling currently isn't a heinous crime like pad loitering. If you're caught with illegal goods you just get fined.
