I have yet to die, but I'm not really doing any dangerous jobs. Honest work is fine with me....for now.
But I remember one time back in my sidewinder I was bounty hunting at a nav beacon and decided to take on a competent viper. I had the upper hand do to slightly more maneuverability for the majority of the fight. Then my shields went down and my pants got a bit soggy. I went down to about 30% pretty quick and instinctively went to run away full speed. Then I noticed he only had 15% hull left and still no shields. I turned FA off, (I had never used it before in combat and practice makes perfect, especially under pressure) flipped my ship to face the viper while still going backwards, then we just unloaded on each other. After what I'm sure was only a few seconds but felt like 10 minutes later, the viper exploded and I was left at about 22%. I only won because he had fixed guns and I had gimballed, plus I was constantly using the side thrusters. Afterwords I fixed everything up and went right back out there
