So............have you died yet?

4 times so far (starting late in gamma)

A traditional starting first time in a Sidey, take off and smack instantly into the wall, turbo'd in a station, a trespass warning (who me?) and a face plant into a python (dammit it was down to ~15% hull)

Nope, though I came close fighting Kane in his anaconda, I beat a hasty retreat when my canopy was blown, though I did have the gumption to not just go to the nearest station but hyperspaced back to my homebase. I wonder how many people have faced hyperspace in a flightsuit.

One death by pirate ramming me, one by some fat ship blocking the mail slot, and one by missing said slot and bumping backwards into the station, triggering a lethal response.

I've only died two times so far.
First was a very clever attempt to scan an asteroid cluster that was really close to the star. At about 200% heat I realised that I probably wont get in range to scan it.
An the second was my only combat death - I tried to take on a python NPC with 27k cr bounty. In an eagle. And was quickly reduced ti 60% hull, but have managed to make it into his blind zone. shields restarted and I made quite a progress cutting his hull, but then - another ship came in and started to shoot the python, but have managed to hit me instead, so i thought he was going for me and broke off and was again bombarded by the turrets. the other ship was downed rather quickly and my was damaged to 2%. At this point i was out of his range and could have safely disangaged but... 27k cr! I've never seen such bounties before! And have already killed some competent pythons(but with different outfit apperently). So i tried it once more to get into his blind zone. And succeeded! With a tiny fracture of shield left I was on his 6 again and his shields were quickly ripped off by my beam lasers again. But, again, someone intervened and I slid into his firing sector for a tiny bit of time. That was enough. And that was my first and only combat defeat so far.

I was on a trip to Earth, carrying about 200,000cr worth of exploration data. I decided to pick up some quick haulage quests to augment the payout when I arrived. I was bringing non lethal weapons to the feds (a lot of these missions lately around the Sol area). I wanted to show off to the new players with my amazing skills.

So, once I'd made sure the coast was clear, I boosted full into the wall of the station and exploded.

I lost everything.

Felt bad mad.

I was jumped by another player, and managed to kill him with 60% hull remaining. The closest call I had was with a wanted NPC ship, which took out my canopy eventhough I had 80% hull left. I made it back to a station with 14 seconds worth of oxygen left.

Spending a couple of hours mining and picking up a few bounties at the same place (some big ones to) then turning boosting and flying straight into a asteroid .. was a really Doh! moment

I have had a couple of close scrapes, both involving boost, I meant to lower landing gear one time outside a station and boosted into the side, my shields saved me (I was in a hauler so wasn't that fast). The other day i was about to leave a station with my Cobra and pressed you guessed it, boost! I was like "oh crap", the pickup was really apparent in the station and I just aimed at the tiny entrance and hoped I wouldn't be mincemeat, the rush I had when heading through unscathed was fantastic!!

I died once so far (maybe once more but I forget) from showing off to another player on leaving a station with boost and I hit the bottom of the entrance and exploded pretty quickly!

They really need to add some kind of obstacle course or a race through an asteroid belt, cos my piloting skills are tested far too infrequently. I'd also like a whole series of Gran Turismo style licences to be added to the game, not in the tutorials but in the actual game itself, maybe put certain missions or ships behind the top licences like they do with the top ranks, just a thought.

Once. I tried to tale on anaconda in my base model sidey. No money lost but wish I did not have that black mark. Nearly made it twice before. Coming in to dock. Silent running so no shield (not even smuggling just practicing for the future) and pulled out throttle USB cable . i was in vr. By the time I noticed I hit the wall and was overheating. Luckily I made it!.

The only time I died to enemy fire was in a war zone. The rest (5 or so) have been because of boosting on stuff.

I died a couple times. Once when I was a Little'un in my sidey and once when I was trying to tackle a 180k asassination contract in my viper and wouldn't give up in time.

I think the game is just perfect in how it portrays your ship degrades and dies.

Of course I did most of my stupid newbie deaths (boosting into the tower on landing etc) during early beta.

I couldnt dock due to a glitch, so i thought I would just cancel and try again. Cancelled, trespass warning, zap....boom.

Note to self: leave station before cancelling docking.
