So............have you died yet?

4/5 times,
Among them :
A suicide on a Sidey to die by overheating (i wanted to know if yu could reach the star :D )
Ai interdiction while fuel scooping -> Overheat and then boum
I Had 34% hull left, and 200K of bounty to redeem, and i go for a last bounty, i kill it but i accidentally push the boost, i ran into its bum, i died....
Last one is a classic: trying to smuggle some goods into a stations, i do everything perfectly, i boost 3 km away, and as soon as I wen trough the letter box "WARNING TREPASSING" i forgot to request docking, and at full speed i didn't get enough time to turn around, I got blown up by the station !

I could have add one more : Got shot by anaconda, drop from full shield to 4% hull, I ran away as fast as possible and manage to dock safely, that was close :)

My first death since it went live.

After being fined for transporting stolen goods on the leave, i went to another system to dock there and chek out the BB with my buddies.
Problem was the routine, boost towards station with FA off, turn to counter thrust with upwards thrusters,
trying to swoosh past the station to the other side of it with docking pads.
All the routine, only to know 1 minute later they attached antennas, jet black and well obscured.

Crash and tumble.. sirens screaming in my cockpit... shields down,
thrust correction.. i'm gonna make it... oo shiny lights, must be the black marke...thud...booom.

67k rebuy please and pay your damn fines in the previous station!
*sigh*

I've lost count...

Go to your right panel and it will tell you how many insurance claims you've filed.

I've filed 12 since the beginning of Gamma.

My most brutal death was falling asleep at the wheel of my new Type 7 loaded with goods. I had to sell a cargo rack and do smaller runs for a week in order to stay within insurance params. It was the week of launch, and I certainly hadn't expected to be running cobra sized cargo loads in my Type 7 when the game released.

One death to a stupidly times undock boost, scratch one adder.. and a close shave wirh my cobra when my two year old wanted daddy. I forgot to kill throttle and as I picked him up heard the sickrning crunch of cobra vs outpost hull... 18% integrity.

The AI is awful. Shieldless eagles pulling my Viper out of supercruise is my favorite. What do they expect to happen there? Whittle me down and pray I don't land a shot?

There have been a few cases where they've done something cool, but it's immediately followed by something absolutely no pilot would ever consider doing, resulting in them exploding.

2 out of 3 aint bad

Had 2 close shaves yesterday - 1st was while taking on an NPC Anaconda (not by myself) - got a little toasted & had to (quickly) limp back to the nearest outpost... Got back with 15% hull, a missing screen & about 1.5 minutes of Oxygen left when I docked... The 70k bounty paid for the repairs though...

2nd was while going out for a wander (explorer Cobra but no fuel scoop) - after a couple of hours of scanning systems, not seeing another ship or station / outpost for ages, I realized I was down to half a tank of fuel... Decided to turn around and head back to civilization... Every system I could see on the way back were un-mapped, so I had no idea whether I would get any fuel or not... Fortunately my last jump got me to an occupied system - just about managed to get to the outpost, the Cobra must have been running on fumes... The 300k for all the scanned systems made it all worth it, just need to invest in a fuel scoop now.

Then my luck ran out - came across a suicidal Wanted NPC Viper... His shields were down, hull at about 40%, I had taken some damage - head to head, guns a-blazing, I pulled up - he pulled up, I dived down - he dived down... Bang & goodbye Cobra...

Luckily not a lot of scanned system data was lost...

My first death occured on the approach to a station on full impulse. I was busy looking at the contacts screen, when the nose of my ship suddenly decided to get intimate with the station hull.

I died a few times. Flew into a star once after warp in because i alt tabbed and when i went back it wouldn't detect my joystick input. One time, bored and brain fried after a long trading run trying to get a bigger safety cushion for fighting, all loaded up with rare goods for the return trip and ran right into the station wall on the way out. :(

Today I almost died to an Anaconda, because my reverse button on my joystick stopped working while i was going backwards. I couldn't maneuver or escape. I tried to exit the game but was notified it would take 15 seconds cause i was in combat. So I frantically searched for the right option in the controls menu while being shot at so I could map the key to the keyboard as well. Fortunately the feds showed up and took his attention away until so I could fly straight again, and finish the fight. lol

Died the second time flying out of a station, shot by another player, next time i flew into a sun, 3rd time - biting off more than i could chew vs NPC's, 4th time lucky, so far ;)

3 times so far. 2 cobra's and a hauler. Each time due to fricking boost! The last one was a 1.6M Cobra, I had some contraband in the hold and in my quest to get into the station unscanned I tried to do a sort of handbrake turn when flying toward the mouth of the station (that looks a tube with a wheel around it) sadly i dropped the nose with flight assist off way before the boost had finished and it smashed me into the station at speed! Luckily the insurance wasn't too bad, I'm 60K in debt to a loan shark, should make that back in a few days with some decent bounty hunting!

Of course OP, have ded many times.
The last time I died was in my Asp over 1200LY away from inhabited space. I had gotten too close to a star and turned off most of my modules to save on heat damage... I forgot to turn them back on ;)

Recall your first death in Elite

Mine was pulling a wanted Lakon Type 9 Heavy out of super cruise in my Eagle. Lets just say that Type 9 is going to need a scrapper to clean his hull

The very first death? I can't remember exactly, but I think it was somehow crashing into the station ^^

Edit: I remember my most painful death, which was within my first 5 deaths: I bought a new shiny Cobra, thought I'm confident enough about my flying skills to give a damn about insurance and bought cargo for all my money I had left and regret this decision about 5 minutes later. There was no loan system back in Beta 1 :D
