So is anyone using the over complicated new trade data?

I tested in beta and I found it really clunky, impratical and very difficult to use.

Is anyone suceeding in using it, or its just better to use eddb and ignore the new feature as usual?

I've found it to be very useful so far. I also don't have to worry about the info being out of date, which is sometimes an issue with eddb. What about it do you find overly complicated?

for example if you are in a system and want to check the best trade for a station in that system, it seems you have to go commodity one by one plus checking destination one by one. That isn't practical at all, is there a better way?

I tried, and failed. lost about 2K credits.

I haven't spent the time to figure out how to make it work properly yet, and likely won't as generally I'm a mission runner. I just tried to figure out what to buy to make a profit running back to my main station. And failed.

You just have to check destination one by one, not commodity.

But how do you compare all destinations to know which one has the better deal? You have to check one by one and write down the best deal in each and then compare manually?

Most systems don't have more than 5 or so markets... you just need to remember the highest current value for each market you've checked.

not really, because you also want to check the return trip for example... if you want to do a loop run.

I like it. I tried it out during the beta and found it very useful. Last night I plundered a few signal sources and used the galaxy map trade interface to find the nearest best place to sell my hold of salvaged goods. Worked really well, I love how you simply hover over the system with the “imports” icon and the popup tells you the price they’ll buy it for. It should be a great boon to selling salvaged goods for the best prices, and I think Frontier did a great job with it.

I think it has some bugs when it comes to black markets and/or stations/settlements with no commodity markets, but I have to test.

I was able to supplement my haulage missions with cargo last night without having to leave game. Made me happy.

Ive used it a bit,its a bit time consuming alright but i hope that may just be intial period of getting used to it.

I can see it being handy, especially for a quick check for export prices for the "Industry Needs X Amount of Y" missions. Also local trade routes. Was looking at a a few player run routes last night, was pretty cool.

Thats what ive used it for currently anyway.

It's certainly an improvement and it wasnt as hard to use as I'd feared it would be. Not as useful as out of game sites but vastly better than what we had before. So far I've been using it to locate stuff for missions with good success. Haven't tried it for 'proper' trading yet though but thats because I havent done any since 3.0 hit so cant say yet if it's any good. I expect it'll get a few tweaks this year based on feedback.

Personally, I thought the trade system was easy enough to understand that I would just “wing it,” and expect to make a trade that was within a few credits of a “best trade” from sites like EDDB.io. The new trade information simply eliminates most of the guess work whenever there was an edge case.

myself and other Commanders made several posts in the beta forums about UXing the usefull information into something more cohesive.

It's as people have said,

it's usefull, but not intuitive.

And buggy.

On the test servers we pointed out things shipped to stations with a profit, but they had no market place (no commodities or black market).

So that was just weird. Clearly the bgs has some hidden resources shipping out to facilities which shows up in the new trade data.
But that stuff shouldn't be communicated to the player.

I had nerve agents last night from Danielle Point in Maia to the Gnosis with a 3000 cr profit.
Filled my hold, flew over, and nada.....sigh....

So someone has to go and create a flag for the hundreds of thousands of stations for the UI to check against.
THEN run a query on the station DB and check for commodities and black markets generate a bool, and insert that into the record, surely???? :D
