You'd lose the betI'm willing to be the op bumped the throttle, lost Autopilot, and just watched the timer run down...
if he lost a sidewinder, then I really don't care about this "glitch"
I just expect in game mechanics to work. If a simple auto-launch system screws up within my first 5 launches, what other stupidity can I expect from the game? This is not a newly released game, bugs like that shouldn't still be around. And if it's not a bug, but by design, then I'm guessing this is not the game for me. Programmed stupidity is worse than bugs, imho.
Then they should explain that in the tutorial, which I had just finished! The tutorial tells you to use the auto- system until you get more comfortable flying. 2 docks later, it kills me...Why do you think it's a bug?
It's a mechanical fault in the auto launch module of your ship. It has a low percentage fail rate to force us to do something about it. i.e. fly your ship

Also, judging by others comments it seems like a bug that could happen if too many players are trying to dock/undock at the same time. But even if it's not a bug, the automated system that connects the station and my ship fails, my ship is not moving, so they shoot me? That makes sense to you? LOL
Would you be happy if you were out flying and your ship randomly blew up, and the answer the devs gave you is "hey, sometimes engines just randomly explode".
I just expect in game mechanics to work.
Don't get me wrong, but buying spaceship flight game, and expecting ships to fly/launch/dock automatically for you? That's just weird. When I got the game, I was giddy like a little boy to learn and fly everything myself, I mean that's the whole point and reason of this game to exist - flying space ships. Never used any Docking Computers, S.C.A.M. or whatever.
But yes, there are several bugs, you have to understand how everything works, be extremely patient and have specific attitude to really get into it. Game won't be holding your hand. To the point that you'll have to constantly be using external sources to get needed information about this game, because nothing is explained in-game, especially advanced stuff.
When you buy this game, you have to have very specific mindset and know exactly what to expect. If you bought this game without any research, just as a compulsive purchase not knowing what you're getting into, you gonna be pretty frustrated with it. This game is for very special kind of geeks.
By the way, did you finish any Training Missions? They teach you some useful stuff and game mechanics. You might wanna play though them all to get better understanding, if you still want to stick with this game, that is.
Maybe you bought a new ship and has no autodock/launch moduleI'm leaving a station for only the 5th time as I just started playing. I use Autolaunch, just like every other time. It puts me in a queue, even though there is no one else around. Queue time runs out, and the station fines me, then kills me. Now it puts me very far away from where I was.
If this is the stupidity I can expect, please let me know so I don't waste anymore time...
ty in advance.
I see myself on you boy! When I bought this game first time I uninstalled it because I dont know how to dock, the second time I bought it again it works fine because they introduced the the flight assist.I'm leaving a station for only the 5th time as I just started playing. Well. The docking computer and the station security are different systems...Not quite right. For the situation to be equal, I would have to turn over control of my car to the DoT/HE authority, and then they put my car in that position, then ticketed me for it (edit: and then sent the cops out to blow up my car!)... which, by the way, I wouldn't put past them!![]()
I would think in a future space faring world, auto docking would be mandatory for safety!
I did read up on this game, and no where did I ever hear of this simple part of the game failing so catastrophically. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the last thing a game developer wants is people being that unlucky, so fast. I used to play Eve, and at one point we had an invasion event, which is not suppossed to affect the starter zones, but they did, and for several days, all new players couldn't finish their tutorial because there were the massive overpowered ships at key points. Eve lost a fair number of possible subs because of that glitch. If you can't get though even the tutoriasl without experiecing that level fail, some take it as a sign to go elsewhere. (Maybe they came here!!)
The biggest danger to your ship is pilot (you). You can either accept that some unlucky situations may happen when using automation (I think it’s OK, relying fully on computers for piloting big spaceship may be risky) or look for another more easier game. ED is quite hard game to learn on start, so it’s up to you decide if you want deal with starting difficulties or not. It really feels great once you learn fly itself and try it also without flight assist… but it needs time and learning muscle memory. Starting difficulty was heavily tuned down during all these years, but there is much to learn and there is big amount of controls …So, what your saying is autolaunch is not "auto"? And then when the auto doesn't work, the station, who put me there, kills me?
So, the game is too stupid then...
Guess this is $29 wasted.
