I'm confused - I thought multicrew allowed copilots to share the discovery tags and rewards from universal cartography, but that's not what happen when I just tried it. Am I doing something wrong, or is only combat and trading rewarded? If the latter, while ignore one out of the three major rank professions? That doesn't seem right...
So multicrew doesn't provide any exploration rewards?

You should share first discovery etc markers. I know myself and a friend a little while back did some multi-crew exploring for giggles and we both received credit. the biggest problem with multi-crew exploring is being unable to use your SRV's etc. has your friend also handed in their explo data?

Okay, next question - is being in a wing ALL that is required? I mean, if a person wings with me and I'm 1000 LY away and discover a new system, do they share that discovery, or do we need to be in the same system at the same time?
that's a good question, I've not tried it. but my instinct says that you both have to be in the same system during the discovery.
You need to be winged and in the same instance in the same system. FSSing large systems in a wing is much quicker, especially if you are competitive!
If mapping, you need to be in contact with each other (can see each others marker) otherwise sometimes it doesn't share the FD tags.
