So open is no more viable...

Who are the Americans?

Really? Here in the states what we call a Liberal is basically the twin of a socialist; all the libs around my neck of the woods think socialism is awesome!

@CMDR Arguendo, you're always going to find a certain demographic who want "easy mode" no matter where you go:) Though, while we're on the topic, I wonder how many Americans who fly in Mobius are in fact Liberals?

The word "liberal" in the US, stands for Left Wing. Down Under, it stands for Right Wing. Case in point, the two major Parties in Australia are "Labor" and the "Liberals". While not an exact ideological transfer, it is roughly equivalent to Democrats and Republicans. Here in the land of saltwater crockodiles and drop bears, our "Republicans" are the "Liberals". On an interesting side note, historically, the Republican Party used be the "Left" leaning party and the Democrats, the Right. By today's standards, Nixon was a Commie (the irony).

Just to clarify, I don't think nationally determines personality or temperament at all . I have just noticed a (possible cultural) trend, not a rule! In my 100 or so friends. Many of these people only play in group, and a few only play in solo.

11000 players in US Möbius? I didn't know there were that many Americans in the game!! I suspect a large portion of these folks are people from other time zones playing at odd hours. Elite has that kind of effect on sleep patterns ;)

Same here in Japan, the Liberal Democratic Party (currently in power) is a very conservative party.

Most people have to work, so that's what controls sleep patterns. I'm sure the cross section of players across the modes is about the same all over. I'm an American, I play in MobiusPvE (N.American version), and I also jump in open for a tussle when it suits me. Stereotyping should just be avoided at all costs.

P.S. Liberal is loosely defined, in terms of historical politics, as a system that ensure each person has the same chance at success. That success is based on ones personal ability, not their relations, money, or connections.

Many an American has asked to join Mobius (EU, Asia, Oceania Time Zones) because they mostly play at hours where there are more Europeans playing. From the discussions I've seen the "bleed over" goes both ways, but mostly from US to the rest (ie. Mobius PVE zone to Mobius zone). And then there is the odd person that is in both groups ofcourse.
I am pretty sure there are more than 11.000 Americans playing the game ;) In the Mobius TS it's about 50% US, and 50% "anywhere else" from my experience.

Ahem...The Americas would be the politically correct term I believe. You know, to include those Spanish speaking players south of Mexico ;)

Being in open in the recent CG.

I have been interdicted by guys who only use overload ammunition: cutter, wings od imperial courier.

Everyone of them is using overload missiles.

It s just me, or in being like this open is just a waste of time?

in a word no. I'm always in open. though I have plenty of funds to replace ship if lost. if you haven't enough cr then I'd say do the CG in solo.

I'm always in open.

I've been out of the game for a long time, and I'm feeling like by playing in open you are now missing out on the opportunity to meet, for example, the 26,000 people playing in Mobius. Is that the case? IS there now less people in Open?

And those of a Portuguese tongue...
Ah, yes. I didn't forget about the Brazilians (anyone else), I just included the majority. Sorry about that.

You're not missing out on meeting people by playing Open, because a lot are. The hotspots (like CGs and other significant events) are somewhat disturbed by players who aren't there for "the opportunity to meet", but rather to make sure every open square explodes. For some that doesn't really fit their playstyle, so it becomes a bit tedious. A solution to that is playing in Mobius.

Indeed or you'd also be including French.

American South (Mississippi) and I play in open most of the time. Political leanings are a bit complicated, but I guess you'd call me somewhere in the middle.

Now I'm wondering if this is a thing because it seems most people who are fine with Open and tolerate PVP seem to be American. Not all, there are some feisty people from all over the planet, but I haven't met many Americans that cower in Group/Solo. Hmmm.

So where does that put me as an Englishman living in America? I'm "fine with open" and "fine with PvP" too, I'm just not fine with folks being asses for the sake of being asses. I'll freely admit that this has resulted in me spending less time in open. It's quite possible to PvP without being a jerk and unfortunately the naming rules here prevent me giving shout-outs to those PvP players posting on here that have given me that kind of enjoyable PvP experience in open. Unfortunately there's just too many jerks so that's why I've shifted to doing most of my play (including PvP) in a group that I control and is only populated by RL friends and those vouched for by RL friends. Personally, I think with that bunch I'm getting the Elite experience as FD wanted it to be, and the jerks wanting me to be their prey in open can take a long walk off a short pier. To all the "honorable" PvPers in open, I"m sorry. Blame those other guys and when you meet 'em, give 'em a railgun round for me. If you can salt 'em out, I'll be back in open for ya :)
