So open is no more viable...

Being in open in the recent CG.

I have been interdicted by guys who only use overload ammunition: cutter, wings od imperial courier.

Everyone of them is using overload missiles.

It s just me, or in being like this open is just a waste of time?

Can I ask if you were in a CG or somewhere else? I can't think of a time I've been interdicted by another commander when I was not participating in a highly lucrative CG or in a system that is the middle of a powerplay fight.

yes.

I was in the recent CG placed in Mu Koji. :)

Yes, your experience in open one system which happens to have a CG in it directly translates to all of open. Everywhere you go you will be interdicted and shot down by griefer wings with engineered weapons...
<sigh>

I wish. I've only been attacked half a dozen times in my career; I'd love to get griefed more often.

Well yeah, me too actually. I mean, I know that at certain CG's you're going to get blasted a lot, but outside of those, I haven't been interdicted by a cmdr for ages. Seriously, outside of the CG's you really gotta try hard to get attacked by a cmdr.

Fact.

In "O P E N" I have been attacked by people using god weapon.

In "O P E N" I have been interdicted by the same group, repeatdly, and thrown in a fight I couldn't win.

From " O P E N" I went to private and solo.

Now, tell me, what part of the "O P E N" theme you didn't get?

Also: Of course I am talking about my experience.

What do I have to talk here? How can I support my opinion if I don't move from fact directly from my experience?

But if you prefer, nect time we could talf about kangaroos... [yesnod]

Well I went to the cg in Mu Koji earlier - had 3 folk try to interdict me - first failed as I just evaded it (there's a bit of luck sometimes , but always possible I've found ), second one succeded , but I flew off while he tried to bring my shields down (always decide early if your fighting or running) - 3rd managed to get my shields down and I was at 88% hull when I flew off (this was a courier attacking me in a FAS - he had missiles and lasers set to disrupt engines as well as thermal stuff - funnily so do I - but probably at a lower rank as I don't fuss over it overly much).
I handed in combat bonds to the tune of 250,000 - this got me in top 50% - logged in later when cg was over - netted just shy of 10 mill reward - overall quite fun and worth the turning up.
Top tips - know when to run, have a pc capable of playing above 60fps consistently at all times and have a decent internet connection
Also use a HOTAS ( I recomend Thrustmaster T-flight hotas x) everything else sucks in comparison - I also have a edtracker which is cheap and well worth it - both for imersion and reaction times.
TLDR - open is fun - CG's make lots of money - good controls and decision making trump twitch skill .

This topic is about OPEN. Not the children's playground you call private and solo.

After my encounter with you in that last CG I was so happy with how my Anaconda performed (even though I was eventually caught and executed) that I bought the cammo skins to go with it. Behold Dahlia, the blockade runner:

I don't think I'd even bother with CGs if there was no opposition to make it lively and provide some risk.

Err, while I don't really get what you're trying to say, perhaps I should be more clear on what I'm trying to say:

Open is safe. Outside of certain CG's that is.
But I've been playing in open since the game released, and I can literally count the times I've been interdicted by a cmdr on my own two hands.
It's only at CG's that you gotta be really careful. And actually factor in the chance there's a real possibility you are going to get killed. But outside from those, no problem.

Now you say you have been interdicted by the same group repeatedly, but was that during a CG?
You're saying you're talking directly from you experiences, but are those experiences happening all across the bubble?

Open is not safe.

Okay, out of CG it's chanche to meet someone else, out of the "usual" place (jameson, sol, eng place) aren't high.

I am well aware about that.

In CG on the other side, chance to meet someone else increase: which is fine, after all.

Now.

My post was because in open i was interdicted by people using god weapon.

God weapon + (repeated interdiction in fight you can't win=) Griefing = Open nott viable as choice.

Period.

I was just asking about other people's experience (seems to me more people confirmed my impression) just to confirm mine and avoiding waste my (precious) time.

So I went private and solo and I have completed the CG: i was glad there were no one in my solo game btw...

But yes: until thermal weapon would'nt be removed from game, It would very improbable I'll move a step in open again.

Wait, CMDRs are attacking other CMDRs in open? When did this start?!

Ugh. Tbh, this whole thread is just one of so many before. People go to a cg because ezy moneyz, get shot down, complain and thnk they have some right to complain.
Open is dangerous. You can get killed. I like that.
I even stay in open when returning from exploration trips. Just for the thrill. It makes it way more exciting trying to make it to a station to hand in your data. And if I get killed, you won't see me complaining here. That's what makes a game exciting for crying out loud. The fact you can be killed! Ugh. Fugeddaboutit. I'm out.

Wait - you mean you can actually get killed in this game? Like - lose your ship and stuff? WTH?!?

There's something just completely unfair about a game that you can't win all the time.

I have played in open since launch. Only had one attempted ganker try to blow up my Python while I was teaching new players how to play. I used that as an "active learning" experience on how to high-wake away while being shot at.

:D

10 million? That's it? Meh pass... If I need cash I can haul crap from Sothis. I wouldn't mind stepping into open of it wasn't for the fact that all my engineer upgrades seems pointless since engineered weapons completely ignore all that I had set out to mod my ship to prevent. So I'll stay in private or solo. At least there I don't see the stupidly OP engineered weapons or melting my ship crap. It's like shield cell banks 2.0 except now you leave when your heat sinks are gone.

Speaking right out of the grapevines: rumor goes that some dandy club of players is doing exactly this as a plan: annoying players in open with experimental heat-effect weapons to produce so much uproar and crying - until the littel horned demons deep down and the littel winged creature up in the clouds might know that the "heat-meta" is unbalanced and the "creators" might step in and intervene.

Well the thing there is that FD already know how OP the thermal cascade/shock weapons are , it has been brought to their attention multiple times from multiple sources. Gank squads have been using from their inception , the spicy bois are a little late to the party to be honest.
