Ships So, that Krait, wow! Nice ship.

I would never use efficient pas for a start, but I don't have any trouble hitting fdls with both barrels of focused, vultures are where it starts to get a bit difficult. Anyway, point remains, want to be an annoying opponent? Use tlb. Nothing else is useful anyway, phasing just got nerfed and wasn't even that good before.

Focused got nerfed as well (no more heat secondaries). A pair of large focused (A)PAs boils a Vulture (even a FAS with a G4 low emission PP iirc). A single huge focused PA (or a pair of medium) is barely usable on the FDL. I'm not sure about the Krait, but I doubt that it can fire 5 of them.

Nice build, yes the krait is awesome, it seems overpowered but you have build it all the way to get what you want. You can't just build a half fighter/half transport because it won't do either really well. It's my favorite ship and the one I've been looking for the whole time I played this game as it really fits my playstyle.

Efficient PAs work great!
Why not?

Shot speed.

It's easier to hit with Focused because the blobs move faster.

It's harder to hit with efficient PAs, even though they are, on paper, the more effective mod to use.

That's hardly a "never" situation.
Off hand I'd say it's probably the most popular single weapon/mod in PVP.

I use them successfully and I'm terrible!

I'm only going on the available evidence - I too use efficient mods. Focussed/long-range PACs are much faster, but they do get a bit... toasty.

That and the power/PD load compared to the damage increase from G5 efficient means you'd have to miss quite often to break even.

I even have some legacy low heat focused PAs that are just collecting dust.
More nostalgia than anything!

I like how OC has the same shotspeed too.
I use a single OC APA combined with efficient PAs on my FGS and Krait.

Exactly like every single ship post-Engineers. What a shock.

Indeed, shot speed. I grant you for most of my kills, in pve, I have no need of the shot speed, I'm mostly killing pythons and bigger and I can hit them with efficient. My loadouts are always specced for the chance of random pvp, and players are notably more evasive. You won't hit me with an efficient PA very often, that I can assure you. The NPCs can't either.

Agreed, I've never used more than 2 large focused, which I use effectively on the python, the chief and the krait (but not in build in OP, like I said, don't look at weapons, they can easily be changed). Heat is manageable, imo.

By the way, focused always had a heat increase, from the very start of engineers. Are you saying they increased it? I hadn't noticed tbh.

Pre-3.0 it was possible to get lucky secondaries that reduced the thermal load of focused PAs significantly. Some of these legacy modules are still around in possession of a few lucky CMDRs.

But it is no longer possible to create mods like that. G5 focused PAs created under the new system have a +5% heat penalty over a base value that is so high to begin with that you cannot use 4 stock PAs on a FAS with a G5 low emissions power plant.

I have a Rinzler-style FDL killing FAS (2x medium G5 focused PAs + 2× large fixed G4 long range cannons, the shot speeds of these PAs and cannons are roughly the same, so you can aim them using the same target circle), and even that build can overheat sometimes with a G4 low emission PP, regardless of the low heat of the cannons and that the PAs are only size 2 modules.

Its laterals are meh at best and its sluggish as hell.

I'd take a FAS/Chieftan any day over that mess.

It looks cool though.

Ahaha, focused.

Learn to aim fella. ;) (I kid)

OC and OC force is far more effective. :)

Lol, it only takes a few.
I only fly in open and use them in PVP all the time...

Sorry, yes I see what you mean. My 2 huge focused pas have some heat reduction from legacy mods, not god rolls, but decent.
