So there's absolutely 0 reasons for Odyssey to run poorly anymore.

It's quite normal that you don't get the same performance in every situation.

The guy who was called a liar in this discussion claimed that he gets 120 FPS in the concourse with his RTX3080, so I assumed that was the benchmark.

I get ~100 FPS in the concourse with my RTX3070 in ultra/1440p so I believe him.
Zotac Trinity OC LHR RTX 3080 nVidia 512.15 DCH running a Samsung g5 3440x1440 on DP
MSI z-690 Edge wi-fi DDR4
i7 12700k (no manual overclock, just the single core boost at 5ghz)
32Gb Team Group 8Pack Edition Dark Pro C16 3600 (XMP 1)
Windaz 10 Pro
Samsung 980 Pro 500GB PCI-ex4 NVMe +WD Black SN850 1TB NVMe PCI-ex4 (these have nowt to do with how the game plays, just how fast the game loads)

No crap installed whatsover, Just windows, all updates, Target software for my Warthog and vJoy for Joystick Curves and all the latest drivers.

If that lot did not run Odyssey smoothly and run stable then I would personally contact Frontier and tell them that it really does need a good and thorough optimising and everybody is correct in it running poorly on RTX cards.

A 3070 or 3080 and the right setup and a none bloated windows install is more than capable of running Odyssey smoothly.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Good enough?

Absolutely. That doesn't mean the game couldn't or shouldn't run better.

In a concourse yes, and In a FC i have 120 FPS easy, but in the surface is a different story, the concourses are not a benchmark for oddyssey

I'm using the same type of card and get similar frame rates (mostly a steady 60 with VSync, but sometimes it drops even below 40 without any obvious reasons or a correlation to the population of the systems I visit. A reload usually fixes that). But that's with 1440p, so there might be something wrong with your system.
The resolution doesn't matter much, there are serious problems with the npc AI and some effects in the settlements. I have the same FPS with 1440p, the drops in perfomance appears when npc appears. Oddysey uses a lot of CPU, a lot!

Not that I have my hopes up, but now that you cannibalized all our platform siblings to the gods of false promises, will at least the actual Odyssey experience be elevated to a near-playable experience?

My deepest condolences for our console colleagues, I hope the ones who are willing to stick around will receive a free copy and transfer to Odyssey on pc.
FDev didn't dump console players over the side just to make Odyssey perfect for PC players, they did it in an attempt to regroup and try to resolve some of the massive PC-based bugs in the game and make it somewhat more playable before announcing maintenance mode.

It's what we have been talking about though...

Anyway, obviously the concourse is a benchmark because it's a comparable standard.

But even in a concourse, you always have 100 fps? I still have some drops to 45 fps from time to time when aproach the bar or facing zones with a lot of NPC, a relog usually fix this drops. In my system the real problem with perfomance are without any doubt the NPC, their AI is very CPU intensive.

I need to check it again, IIRC it's like 85-110, definitely not down to 45.

PS
Just checked, Concourse is 85-110 and conflict zone is 60-90 FPS on ultra / 1440p. I guess it's possible to find a CZ where FPS are lower, but generally the performance is very smooth for me. As I said earlier, obviously the game should run better. But this is very much payable for me.

There truth of it is, fleet carrier interiors arent that exciting. Sure, cool for the first few times, but ultimately, its basically just a time consuming way to get to the exact same menus. A least there is only one fleet carrier interior, and it’s plenty big enough to reuse a lot of the station interior assets. The work needed to bring that to all ship interiors would be huge, and for what?

The conflict zone are low or high intensity, the high intensity ground conflict zones are the more demanding for me.
