So . . . . Type 8 eh?

That's why I write that if all new ships were only for ARXs it would be a good move.

So what you're telling me is that you don't think I should be able to buy any of the ships with the credits that I earned while having fun in the game.

I should instead be forced to:

Grind ARX using none of the activities I enjoy, treating playing the game as a second job rather than a fun pasttime, so that I can "buy" a single ship after almost a year...
Accept that the paltry ARX I earn with activities I enjoy, during the brief periods that my life affords me to play, that I won't be able to afford a single ship with ARX in the next fifteen or twenty years... assuming I live that long. Thank goodness most of the women on both sides of my family lived well into their nineties so far, so I might be able to acquire two. Perhaps three if I reach my centenial...
or
Open up my wallet and pay $13 for each of the new overpowered ships to a company that I no longer have much faith in, with no guarantee that the money would even be spent on this game.

Okay, I don't care about the new year awards where they just roll a bunch of ARXs.
But I want to know what can be done in the game to not earn ARXs?
You write about credits, any earning of credits always give ARXS.
You can even fly to another system, lose fuel credits, but you will still be given ARXS.
So how do you do it?

And I repeat, these ships cannot be Meta, they are in balance, so no one is forcing you to buy them.
I have a lot of ARXS, but I didn't buy PythonMk2, I probably won't buy it for credits, it's not better than FDL.

P.S. Now I know that the forum is well listened to and the rules change on the fly. I have hope that the developers will hear my opinion and make new ships only for ARXs.

I realize that you are most likely not familiar with the mechanics of playing Elites and don't realize that you can play safely in a single-player game. Or do YOU care that someone in the single player game will kill more NPCs than YOU?
PayToWin slogan is only good for some session game where there is no co-op and players have to kill each other from morning till evening.

Even now we have ready-made builds of AX ships that anyone can buy and it does not look like PayToWin !

P.S. And I didn't see a single answer to my questions.

By hovering over both of your avatars it was quickly revealed that you have 3 years less time on the forums so in all likelihood your first realisation is wrong.

I am not sure your questions had a single answer.

It is possible whilst out exploring without doing exobiology to barely earn more than a few Arx per week until you get to sell the data which with some misfortune might never happen. So while not a zero payment activity not one likely to get a ship in an acceptable time frame.

I don't know what you mean. Can you tell me a little more about it?

So you wanted it. If you didn't want it, you would have just bought an FC and turned in the data every day.
If a person collects data and then kills himself in the sun, that's his right.

Move the mouse pointer over the avatar or thumbnail image beside a post and a pop up will show information about the poster, under the name it says Joined and a date this is when they joined the forum. Yours says Nov 9, 2016 theirs says Feb14, 2013 mine says May 19, 2016.
Clicking on the avatar or thumbnail will get you too a page showing that information as long as they haven't done what you have done and restricted access to their profile.

And the fact that I have less than him? I see.
I myself had already forgotten that I bought the game in 2015, and always thought that in 2016 and recently saw this ...

In fact, I made this post on purpose, because in my opinion a person who plays Elite and knows that most people play in private groups or single-player can not give a link to a video about pure multiplayer games.

I think I understand what I'm writing.

I sometimes cry about the open game, but they always stop me - why did you get into open game, sit in single player don't and no cry.
In principle, they are right, and at this rate there can never be PayToWin in Elite.

It's not exactly the first time you've insinuated that someone with a different opinion to you "doesn't know how to play the game" which doesn't go down well when you rather obviously lack the experience yourself.
That was just my guess based on what I saw (How 'Pay To Win' ruins the gameplay in MMO's - [MMOPINION]). If he or someone else can logically explain to me that he is right and I am wrong, I will gladly accept it.
I looked at that person's channel and I think he doesn't know what Elite is, and when he made that video he had a completely different game in mind.

I realize that you are most likely not familiar with the mechanics of playing Elites and don't realize that you can play safely in a single-player game.

I've been playing the game since the original Alpha, mostly in Open.

Or do YOU care that someone in the single player game will kill more NPCs than YOU?

I don't care what anyone does in a single-player game, nor do I care about what anyone does in a multi-player game.

What I do care about is how I game I enjoy gets altered by the introduction of pay-to-win mechanics.

PayToWin slogan is only good for some session game where there is no co-op and players have to kill each other from morning till evening.

Nope. It's about how pay-to-win mechanics transform how a game plays, thanks to the perverse incentive of making a game miserable to play to encourage players to dish out money so it becomes tolerable. I've been down this path far too many times to enjoy seeing it repeated in this game.

Even now we have ready-made builds of AX ships that anyone can buy and it does not look like PayToWin !

It does, it reeks of it, and I've been disgusted by it since the concept was introduced.

P.S. And I didn't see a single answer to my questions.

To answer your questions:
But I want to know what can be done in the game to not earn ARXs?

It's not earning any ARX. It's simply that certain activities I do enjoy don't earn nearly as much as activities I don't enjoy. I play to have fun, not to do have a second job that earns a lot less than minimum wage.

For example, I could spend hours exploring a single system, and not earn a single ARX, because those activities don't earn ARX until I cash in the data. I could spend a session manipulating the BGS, and come away with only a few ARX, because the rewards I choose don't earn nearly as many ARX as choosing credits would do.

So how do you do it?

By not grinding ARX, and simply doing what I find to be fun in this game. It doesn't help that thanks to this game's time-poor player unfriendly aspects, I don't get to play this game as much as I'd prefer. Typically, I earn about 30-50 ARX a week. Some weeks I'll earn more, some weeks I'll earn less, and some weeks I simply don't have a good play window to play this game at all.

In the last 11 years, I've watched this game transform from one with a decent amount of depth, that required skill, attention, and planning to get ahead, into one that's so shallow that it's practically a skinner-box these days... only with a good flight model and best-in-class VR for the ship parts of the game. I've watched gameplay I very much enjoyed be removed, obviated, or oversimplified to sate the demands of the "I WANT IT NOW!" crowd.

What I wanted most from this game is to play a struggling Commander who needed to make interesting decisions to get ahead while fighting a war with the Evil Galactic Federation. Instead, I'm playing a wealthy dilettente whose most interesting decisions are on the order of "What do I want for dinner?"

And now Frontier is testing the waters with pay-to-win mechanics. Of all the changes I've disliked that Frontier has made to this game, this is the one that worries me the most. They're already gating a vastly overpowered medium-class cargo ship behind a paywall, though it is temporarily... for now. Engineered modules? Available for real-world money, but with restrictions... for now.

If Frontier follows a similar a similar trajectory to other games I've played in the past, those restrictions won't last too long, because it doesn't net them much money. And then they'll start making the game more tedious to play. They'll start introducing bonus packs that increase the rate of various methods of advancement while dialing those same rates to those who don't pay. Rather than providing building a game that's great for everyone to play, Frontier will start altering a game that's only great for those who have money to play.

For example, I could spend hours exploring a single system, and not earn a single ARX, because those activities don't earn ARX until I cash in the data.
You also won't get any credit until you turn in this data.
manipulating the BGS
I'm sorry, but I can't help you here as I believe there is no game in BGS and people do it only on their own whim. (I think this is a separate topic) just I pointed out that in a conversation with me - the words GAME in BGS for me sound something like Racing on SRV.

I read your post carefully and you don't understand what PayToWin is about in Elite.

If it was a session only with open world and I had to buy a ship for real money or I will be killed and can not do anything - I understand that.

But in Elite? I spent years collecting materials, credits bought FC, when Odyssey came out I spent almost 2 years collecting materials for spacesuits and weapons so that it was at my level 5. That's my right. But I can not understand what my business that someone will buy some ship or equipment and do something.
If he can not interfere with me, then let him do what he wants.

I honestly don't understand.

You've claimed that I wasn't an active player previously. You might want to reconsider before making blatantly false claims going forward.

Yes, I appreciate the attempt to turn the conversation to me personally and thus not to give any proof that the Elite can under no circumstances be PayToWin.

P.S. For those who think that I accused someone personally, please read my signature about the difficulty of translation, I never had such a goal.
