So what did I do wrong here? Any suggestions?

It seemed like a brilliant idea in my head, but basically no one goes up top.

Looks like they're getting stuck - to my eye you'd need a wider path than that if you have two-way traffic.

Might also be a glitch that makes them think they can't path into the top plaza...

I would also like to know how to efficiently do raised walkways / viewing areas .. I have some big exhibits for herd animals but have been way too intimidated to try and make a raised viewing area.

Yeah I finally got myself a pair of Lions and decided to try and make something special

They don't seem to get stuck but get to the top of the single lane and then turn around. Basically have no interest in going up top to the plaza.

Since you are looking for suggestions I moved this from Beta Feedback to General Discussion :)

Try moving the donation box to the corner of the picnic area and the education sign over to where the bin is. That should draw your guests over to that area.

EDIT: Love the design by the way. Cool idea, putting the shelter underneath the stalls. Bravo

Actually the problem may be that null barrier just doesn't work :( In the image below this female lion basically just walked right through it. I guess I need to build up rock to block them.

update - I managed to work out how to place elevated paths, you have to hold SHIFT while placing an un-connected section to set some of it in the air. Deeply unintuitive, just like most of this game so far :D A fairly simple platform over my plains habitat is working well so far.

Ok overall this was just a bad idea. Babies find every crack in the rocks and slip through. The null barriers don't them either. You really need full up walls everywhere :(

Yeah I think my problem was misunderstanding null barriers, and then even once I put the barrier behind the rocks, animals managed to find ways through the cracks.

BTW loving the ATM right by the donation box ROFL.

I would suggest putting null barriers behind a wall, through terrain or behind rocks where animals can't cross that line. Otherwise they'll count as escaped.
