So what other games will you play to scratch your space game itch?

Oh my god... SURELY No Man's Sky rates a mention here?

Probably the only game I'm looking forward to more that E-D. It looks absolutely mind-boggling, and the art-direction is just incredible.

Mind you, given the dev's absolute nightmare with the UK flooding situation/insurance-fiasco, I could well end up playing Elite Dangerous whilst I wait for NMS...

MAAAAAAN............ I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I saw this trailer beginning of January and probably watched it 20 times over ha. game looks crazy fun just on a exploration level alone.

Another game I tried recently (Like yesterday) was Starmade.
http://star-made.org/

It's sort of like Minecraft in space.

It's in alpha atm, but it's free, so you have nothing to lose really.
You get to build your own ships and fly about exploring, mining, fighting pirates etc.

I play it with my kids who love it (I love it too :D ).

I play a fair amount of StarMade on and off, it's fun :)

Erm..JUMPGATE is back online
Newtonian physics with drag

"Jumpgate was a persistent world sci-fi MMORPG from NetDevil notable for being one of the first popular MMOs set in space. In the game, players became the pilots of their own spacecrafts, and jumpgates were portals used for travel. Players engaged in a series of quests, combat, resource gathering, and more in order to advance their characters and upgrade and customize their crafts. The game was closed in April of 2012."

opened again 2013 :)

That looks really good. One to watch for sure.

What's the current state of their projects, anyone know? Since the initial news about the floodings and insurance problems I havn't heard anything at all about the game, and the website seems to be just a placeholder. I'd assumed everything was on ice for the forseeable. I hope everything comes together again for them - it looked to have real promise.

no space games, thank you.

however, i just dl path of exile and look forward to testing that game out.

will alternate between alpha builds, tf2, homm and some omd high scoring. enough games for me :D

One game missing from the lists above, I have not played it for a while but was good when the game was still running for real.

When it was shutdown by EA the fans went off and reverse engineered the server, thus Earth & Beyond Emulator was born.

Check it out here: http://www.net-7.org/

I will be downloading and playing it again Soon™!

Regards

Mike

Mount & Blade [and M&B Warband] has been fulfilling my sandbox gaming needs for the past several years, it's been described as "Medieval Elite" and has been the best value game I've played, probably since BBC Elite :)

Not sure if you know but you can play Warband multiplayer battles and develop (level) your characters, it's great fun

POE is really good, very playable even without spending any real money on micro-transactions.

Not a space game, but I got GameDev Tycoon a few days ago for £3.99 on Steam. It's stopped me F5ing here, and made me late for work twice.

I used to play this, got to level 50, but I got the feeling I screwed up my passive build tree as I was beginning to die a lot.

Good fun though and quite addictive.

I'm currently playing AC4 - Black flag on my PS3 , not the sort of game I usually play, but its good fun and not too taxing on the brain.

Rise of Flight and on the weekends Il2: Battle of Stalingrad, we're spoiled for updates over on Il2:Bos as they have being doing a dev update every week and we get screenshots of up and coming planes posted quite frequently to their FB page.
