So you want to play in Open, eh?

Face facts people, there are not a lot of Code members. Maybe a max of 20 participated in this at a single time for an hour or two in and instance or two, most of the time it was 10-15 in a single instance.
The fact that this tiny infinitesimal number of players were able to pretty much grind the Hutton Orbital CG to a halt at-will should push everyone to practice combat skills and tactics a lot more.

I respect your organised piracy, I was happy to be destroyed by a wing of you in my new python as I'd already delivered and it meant they weren't destroying someone else. To claim that you succeeded though is laughable, huge convoys of Cmdrs got through, thousands of tonnes were delivered by thousands of Cmdrs. Still, you'll probably enjoy watching this.

In truth, you make the game more interesting. Carry on.

A request to remain civil is protecting a single participant in the thread? You can remain civil and still criticize the statement in the OP. Many have done so without any problem.
Yes it is, because it was done as a warning before anyone responded, some would see that as looking to scare off anyone looking to really challenge him.
Many have remained civil in other threads too, without a comment from the moderators. If someone steps out of line then infract them, until then, don’t use your moderator badge to try to influence the discussion.

The guy can post a thread without the need for this protection. It’s an interesting subject, one of the more interesting things to happen in the game for a long time. It should be allowed to be discussed. We don’t need to be pre warned, we got that when we read and agreed to the forum rules.

It is called war, I not see the huge demand to remove Power Play from the game because it basically sets the different powers at war with each other. If I sign up with Arkon and spot a trader who is Edmunson, by the dynamics of Power Play it is my duty to destroy this trader without question.
No, it is not, war has a purpose, wanting something, and no "because I can do it" or "We are trying to get developers to fix this problems so we do it repeatedly" are not purpose's for war, the later especially since wanting to fix a problem indicates help, but abusing it is not helpful in one bit, but harmful to people.
People go to war because they want something, not simply because they want to blast other people out of the sky. And remember in a game where your death isn't final this means that where a majority could destroy the offenders, in games it favors said offenders because ultimately they can keep doing what they do.

Video requires login just fyi.

By the way. I like the CODE. Humanity is missing strong people. Archon Delaine has noticed that as well. (I am Hudson tho)
Without the CODE, open would miss something importantly :)

Does anyone have an idea or estimate of how much this effected the progress of the community goal? Considering the amount of ships destroyed and then the amount who were deterred from coming back there must have been some impact. I’m not sure but I think I heard the goal just came short of the next tier. Was this enough to prevent it making it into the next tier?

But the earlier thread saw something else

In this case I welcome the moderators not communicating through infractions, but by means of dialogue. Moderation is a broader activity than handing out infractions.

Nah they were late on it. All they did is just send player packing to solo.

I don't see it as trying to influence the discussion - more like trying to pre-empt the pile of complaints in the mod inbox.

If you look at Robert's posting history it's easy to see that his personal view is unlikely to make him feel the need to support the OP.

It's perfectly easy to argue with - ridicule even - the points made in the OP without breaking any forum rules.

In fairness, I think every other thread I've read around these issues (and there have been a few) has ended up with a warning somewhere along the line. It's an obviously heated issue. I don't think there is anything untoward about a preemptive warning. If anything, I hope warnings like that would serve as an early reminder so that a discussion can go on without it quickly lowering to insults.

That's an INGAME RP response, not actually ranting on the forums or opening tickets. There's a difference.

People who are unhappy with CODE are free to create their own PvP "Clan", wing up and make a stand ingame - rather than try to influence FD on the forums to make everyone play as they wish.
Or just - you know - don't play with them.

Venting real-life frustration by murdering random people in a game, and using that to threaten real people outside the game is not roleplaying. They"ve been ranting on the forums for mobths though. And dont worry, I dont play with them, or any other group of self-confessed cheaters.

Perhaps you are right, I guess I just found it strange, taking this thread in isolation, that the second post was already a warning.
I guess considering the history of these things, it was done with the right intentions.

This makes sense. Agreed.

The only thing the last week has taught me about code is that they are happy to allow hacking (as evidenced by their TS chat in their own twitch) and from the first post in this thread that they actively go out to find and use as many exploits as they can. I find myself utterly unsurprised.
